Volksrod Beach Buggy build project

You did NOT pay £582 for that.

Did you?

"NEW FLOOR, NEW BRAKES INC BRAKE PIPES MASTER CYLINDER,THE 1600 VW MOTOR HAS HAD NEW BARRELS AND PISTONS,CRANK REGRIND,STILL NEEDS TO BE RUN IN,ALSO NEW SHOCK ABSORBERS ALL ROUND,OWNED FOR THE LAST 15 YEARS BUT NEVER FINISHED"

It doesn't even say when the work was done, he could have done it and parked it up for 10 years. Good luck with that.

god that sounds familular:(

well the good news with them is there is sod all to go wrong on them, obviously floorpans are the thing with bugs and yours has been changed (mine was done ooh god 20 years ago and is still as new, yes yes it hasn't seen the road and was blasted with underseal at the time so helps!), brakes changed!!, engine OK - come on stick a huge turbo in it!!, so all thats left is you may have some joint to sort / no problem, so really your looking at getting it looking good ie sort body out / respray.

maybe the odd crack / bit biffed off but aslong as there are no big sections smashed your OK kits are ALWAYS rippley but if you've got the time and money/patience.....

If you do the work yourself, the engine runs and it's basically complete it looks like a pretty cheap project to me, especially since it's got its blue ticket with it. Pay someone else to put it back together and it's going to get expensive very quickly and I doubt you'll do it for £2K though.

doesn't look like it needs too much body work very hard to tell, if you just want to get it going / a bit of fun, then I'm sure you could get it painted for £800-1k probably 300 if you wanted a REAL bargain basement job (scotch mask paint /cheap paint solid colour) but you get what you pay for;)

Again thanks for your comments. I think my first priority is to get it fully road legal and then i'm going to concentrate on getting it looking nice.

I would rather spend the money to get it looking nice than to try and save money and have it looking just ok. So if I use the funds I have now to get it kitted out with everything it needs and get it through its MOT and then i can get it looking nice over time.

Penski, by any chance did you model your looks on the lead singer from earthtone 9?

That's a bit Random :/ Why do you ask?

Anyhoo...Yes, I look a bit like Karl Middleton. No, it isn't intentional.

Last time I saw him he had long curly hair anyway.

Edit - I also sound like him when singing apparantly.

Edit 2 - I just realised that I still have my Grind and Click sig.

There's a company making new short wheelbase bodies in bright flake gellcoat and it's as good as any DIY paintjob, I was well impressed. Might be worth getting one of them, swap the running gear over to the more desirable body and stick the old one on eBay. I bet you'd get more of your money back than the paintjob costs.
