While I'm sure it would be very difficult to implement, I'd have thought the best bet for OCUK would be to reward loyal customers, rather than forum posters. The two are not the same.
 
A leak seems inevitable if it goes in a more public part of the forum.

Perhaps a new section (OCUK Members Deals?) where the post count requirement is lower, but the age of account is requirement is older could be added to help out those who have been around for a while but haven't yet accumulated 1000 posts?

During the first "wave" of the GPU drops, people were putting listings up with order numbers for confirmed preorders so it wouldn't surprise me.

I believe that the code gets consumed when the payment is made and whether you get a second chance depends on how fast you try again. There's no reservation capability currently on our site. In fact, at least one loyal forum member missed out yesterday because their card declined.

Aye, should be a combination of account age and post count. A lot of accounts build up post count through daily chatter, whilst other accounts may post less often, but adding more value. I'd likely not qualify either way, but seems a fairer system to use a combination of account age and post count. Could be that the forum doesn't have the required functionality for that though.

Either way, it's a good system OCUK are using here and catching the re-sellers is great work, so fair play.

There are ways. Hypothetically if you insulted me or annoyed me sufficiently here and I was in a particularly bad mood, it's not beyond our capability to compare the IP addresses that you use to access the forum with IP addresses for website purchases/accounts, cancel all backorders, ban the account and ban those IPs. :rolleyes::D;) Nobody has reached that stage of irritating yet though. :D:D

1k posts is pretty big, this drought will be over by the time I get there :D

I think I'm going to have to resort to a Laptop for the final upgrade in our house.

Always someone who ruins it for everyone else :mad::( Ban them and ban them some mmore. Ban every ip they're associated with so they can't login on another system with another account
