What country is the best to pretend to be in for "browsing"?

Iceland seemed to work, also Algeria but the website had Arabic text in places which I dared not click, probably get a camel or something.
Literally anywhere that is not the UK. We are the only western country dumb enough to have done this. Texas did something similar, but that’s just Texas for you.

Important to distinguish between people who are using a VPN to change their region, and people using a VPN because their internet access is heavily monitored and there are criminal consequences for accessing certain material. For the majority of people it's the first category, and potential DNS leaks don't matter.

If you care about privacy the most, then Mullvad and Proton are your best options.

Nord and Surfshark have the same owners, and the majority of VPN's are actually owned by a small number of huge corporations.

Using VPN's to change regions is also becoming more and more annoying and restrictive. A lot of apps like Netflix can now tell when a VPN is being used. Hell, even the youtube F1 channel knows when a VPN is being used and if you try to watch highlights it forces you to turn the VPN off!

I was using proton. But the speeds left me a bit disappointed. So I’ve switched to nord for a trial, and it seems a lot snappier. A year for £46 seemed an okay deal.

I'm sure people have posted about using cashback sites for Nord in this thread... Have a look before you buy direct.

You should be able to submit a manual claim. I've not done it for a while but I think it usually lists times they can see you clicked through to the retailer and you select that. They'll probably want an order number and stuff like that. I've done a few manual claims in the past and although it's taken ages they've been successful.
Nord said by purchase didn't track, so no cashback for me!

Proton free or proton paid? I’ve no problems with proton paid on multi gig internet.

One more little issue with vpn..wish ocuk would stop asking to verify I’m human :P I get that they have to filter out the bots, but for long standing members, the option should be disabled. I guess it’s not possible though.

That's Cloudflare, and not OcUK.
