VRAM - AMD/Nvidia, why does it differ?

I only go over my 2GB if i set 1080P and 150% res- scaling. so thats 1600P, ish. 3GB is plenty for 1600P

But surely that's just a graphics quality setting the same as the others?
So why not max it out?

Weren't we're talking about going over the VRAM limit with settings maxed out?
Surely you could turn other settings down to not go over 2GB?

I run it at 125%, about as high as i can get with a safe Vram buffer, it doesn't make a huge diffrence, not like 150% +, but it reduces those jaggies a bit and sharpens the image a little.

Frame Rates are still very good, not to much of a hit.

Is the game any good Ltmatt.

Yeah im enjoying it, mainly for the graphics. It does have a 30fps limit which sucks, but it actually plays quite nicely and i don't even notice the limit any more.

170% is as high as i can go. If i go higher fps drops below 30 and when that happens in this game its like the game is running in slow motion so its unplayable. 170% looks breathtaking though.

^^ If it drops below 30 the game is running in slow motion - the update rate is tied to the framerate :| hence why its locked at 30. (No developer worth anything has done this since like 1995).

On a capable GPU, why not put enough Vram on it so you can run those settings?

If i pay 3 / £400 for a GPU that has the power, i wouldn't be very happy to find my GPU costing that much is actually hampered by a lack of Vram.

According to my testing i can run it at 60fps with res scaling of 0%, 40 fps with a res scaling of 130% or 30fps with a res scaling of 150-170%. I chose the last option.

You need to put that slider to 200% to claim ultra settings and from my findings, 3GB cards don't have enough VRAM to play ultra at 1440P ;)

Not that I care, as I have 6GB :p

Here's another deal breaker. I don't believe steering wheels are supported. I'm using a 360 pad. Mind you im not much of a racer so ive never really used wheels or pedals.

I should probably look up these things before i buy games :L
Currently downloading it lol, frame locked and no wheel support? :(

Looks like its back to FF8 :D

Is that 360 pad compulsory?

Some Racing games of the past have forced you to use that Pad, some sort of Microsoft Marketing rubbish.

I remember having to use x360ce emulators for my Logitech pad.

Yeah have to admit i didn't know about the fps lock either before i bought it. I got it via the MM for £19 though so not too bad. That said though it doesn't take too long to get used to 30 fps imo. You can increase it as well. I recommend 40fps as a good compromise, smoother but you can't have resolution scale as high.

I recommend anyone who can't get on with 30fps t try these settings. Highest in game settings, disable motion blur. Quit.

Right click game in origin, properties. Cut and paste this in the shortcut.

-GameTime.MaxSimFps 40 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 40+

Click apply. Create a User.cfg file (same as BF3/4) and add the res scale like this

Render.ResolutionScale 1.7

1.1-2.0 works. 2.0 = 200%

Save the file as ALL FILES, not a txt file.

Remember if the game drops below the fps limit you set above it goes in slow motion. Its unplayable so it might take some tweaking till you get it right. If you want 60fps might be best leaving res scale at default and not changing it.

No idea its the only pad i have so have not tried other options.

Just checked the EA forums and no driving wheels are supported. locked to 30fps and no wheel support in a racing game. I want to know who makes these stupid decisions. The amount of people canceling the game on the forums along with the people that will not buy it because of no support just goes to show how bad EA are these days.

Pro Console lobbyists.

The best way around that is for PC to lobby right back at DICE.

@ Matt, thanks, its wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, you can get emulators for Logitech pads, much to Microsoft annoyance.

40fps is the bare minimum I'd consider acceptable for a racing game myself tho to some degree its a personal thing - I generally need ~60fps to do well in those type of games.

Yep console port written all over it. But it has breathtaking graphics if you know how to tweak. Its a tweakers dream tbh. The gameplay is solid.

Yeah i hear you. I was the same when i first played it. Once i discovered resolution scaling works (via a config hack/tweak) i got used to 30fps simply for the awesome graphics. Whats 1440p + 170%? :p

Dice didn't make the game - can't remember who did but a lot of it was handed off to some smaller studio who seem to have uh cut some corners.

Correct it was not dice. Some studio called Ghost. All they did was use the awesome engine of Frostbite 3.0.

The thing is it's not just pc guys that are unhappy as a lot of the complainers are also console players. Every racing game should have wheel support which to me is just common sense.
