Here’s some food for thought. Space marine 2 with texture pack. 21GB used. 23GB allocated.

it's annoying sure I wish they used some 3GB modules 5080 with 24GB would have been killerPlanned obsolescence is the phrase I’d use.

This is why the 16GB of VRAM on the 5080 is unacceptable. It's not even out yet and it's already unable to play a AAA game in 4K with high res textures...for a grand! Absolutely DOA for that price. It may as well be called the "RTX oh go on then just give me the 5090".Planned obsolescence is the phrase I’d use.

So you say 32GB of VRAM on the 5090 is acceptance? It's not even out yet and it's already unable to play a AAA game in 4K with high res textures without DLSS4.This is why the 16GB of VRAM on the 5080 is unacceptable. I'd likely stick with my 3080 for another gen if it had a little more vram (12+). Remember those 3080 20gb rumours
Minimum id go for today is 16gb, 12 is just cutting it too close going forward in 2025.
That game uses nearly all 16gb of VRAM on my 4080 Super..12GB is definitely cutting it close for 2025. Only having 12GB meant I was struggling with the Indiana Jones game @1440P.
And some folks think 16GB is plenty enough for 5070ti/5080/9070/9070XT...That game uses nearly all 16gb of VRAM on my 4080 Super..
