VVTI/VVTLi & VTec Controllers

Faster? Maybe.

More fun? No. (With the exception perhaps of the MX5 and 968).

But that isn't the point, the OP likes his Yaris, and its fine that you don't, that is what makes us individual, we like different things, but trying to force opinions on the OP isn't right.

Couldn’t me a more true word said :)

I had a Yaris loaner years ago when my MR2 was in getting work done. It wasn't "fun" - it was a shopping cart sized shopping car.

I can only think you'd consider it "the most fun on a b-road blast" if you hadn't driven much else.

All those car are a higher insurance group and cost more to insure, tax and run than my Yaris, a lot more. Im still young and the cheapest way to go faster is buy modding my car rather than buying a faster car and getting bummed for insurance.
Also my Yaris is fun to drive maybe not to some peoples standards but I like it. Pretty reliable compared to them cars on the list except the Mazda.

Planned mods are:
Manifold OBX or something depends on whats in.
De-cat or sports cat depending if my mate will pass it for its MOT
Performance backbox
Better induction kit
Going to be getting better pads and discs, rear upper strut and lower strut and obviously go faster stripes.

Not really, it makes posts frustrating to read if you can't be bothered to spell words properly or use the correct grammar. It also makes you look like an idiot, I suspect you're not an idiot, but that's perception for you ;)

That’s all well and good, 99% of people guaranteed who read that post by me with the use of an incorrect word wont read it and say 'oh I will discredit that old chum he used there rather than their he is an idiot’ that remain percent is you ;) Need to get my wink smile in too, frankly if somebody judges one to be an idiot by using an incorrect word on an internet motors forum than they are the idiot.

Anyway wayyyy of topic so lets drop it as we are posting rubbish so lets get back to talking about this guys TSport.

People told me the 197 was more fun when I was contemplating buying my last car (Corsa VXR), I couldn't see it, and found the VXR a lot more fun.

I've never driven a 182, but I have a 172, and didn't really see the same fun factor as some of the other cars I've driven.

It depends what your idea of fun is I guess - if you want something thats easier to drive fast then I guess this whole Renault thing is for you. If however, you like a bit of a challenge, plenty of LOOS and being rewarded for getting things right, you might see my point of view.

When did motors turn from motors, into general idiocy?

I see someone who has a 'Mondeo' in their sig.. suggesting to someone who drives a 'Yaris' that they need to save up and buy a proper car.

Wtf?

Way to miss the point.

If someone was looking to mod their Mondeo into some kind of Veyron thrashing beast, they'd get the same advice as the Yaris owners get - get something more appropriate.

You can mod a Yaris all you want, but by the time you've spend your money on mods, extra insurance etc, you'd have been far better buying something that was suited in the first place.

No, I didn't miss the point.

You buy the car cause you like the car, if the OP wants to spend his cash on it to make it more perky than why not? Its his money and his choice.

He asked for advice, instead all I see is certain people pretty much telling him his car is **** ;)

But when you buy that better car, then start to mod this. Its the same process over and over again at what point do you stop??

Its his car let him sped his money as he so pleases, he is only asking for advice about modifing his car not a whole 99 pages of ramblings from folk preaching 'by a better car' etc etc....

It doesnt cost me any more moeny for a exhaust system or an induction kit on insurance. Only thing that will cost me more is the controller. I can get the parts fitted cheap.

Im not expecting it to be some sort of Veyron thrashing machine. I just want it to be faster.

A 172 is about £2k-£3k, insurance is about £2k for it so thats £4k spent on some sort of French tat that will break down or fall apart like most Renualts.

Its gonna be about £2k cheaper to mod my car at if not even cheaper if my mate fits the parts.

No because my company specializes in modded cars. They said I can have a full exhaust system including manifold, induction kit and any cosmetic mod e.g. lowering springs, tints at no extra cost.

Why do you care? You will just have to look around cause they might not insure you if your a student.

Out of interest? I haven't been a student for well over 4 years now ;) So again, without being so defensive, please can you let me know what company this is.

Guessing that was a dig at me, unsurprising - not the first time owning a Mondeo has invalidated my opinion for some wierd reason.

I dont claim my Mondeo is something its not - I bought it because it suits my purposes. The OP thinks his Yaris is some sort of racing car - I suggested he should buy something designed to suit his needs/wants.

Modding a yaris to be quicker is like modding an F430 to improve it's towing ability
