Yea shes 17 started the policy with a Mini One, than changed to an auto 2006 golf when the Mini wasnt working out.

got the quote from one of the compare website and its with admiral
my dad has his license for 15 odd years and has currently 6 years no claims

if i pay up the 3 grand and have a 1 year ncb, what would i be expecting to pay for year 2?

That's the OP's last post and it contains the issue, comparison sites are really really crap for young/new drivers. I was getting similar quotes when I passed my test at 20 and 'only' paid £1400 after getting on the phone to a broker.

i can afford to pay 3k (albeit monthly) but if there was another legal way to reduce the cost then id be a fool not to ask.

i got off the phone from insurethebox and they offered 2.4k with 7 monthly payments.

Sod having a tracking box in your car, FWIW companies like that quoted me more than normal insurers. Get on the phone to some brokers, honestly.
