VW's DSG 7 Gearbox - Is it fine now?

Couple of problems on the Briskoda forums, lots of ones being replaced some people lost all power etc. If you're buying new and in warranty you'll be fine as I think they've ironed out the majority of the problems now.

After a favour :)

When you're next in the car from cold could you accelerate until its in 3rd (4th may be preselected of course) and then just let off the accelerator/lightly brake.

Is there any graunching noise as it slows or selects 2nd? This is what I have and most prevalent from cold, but still sounds a bit clunky when warm. Not sure if its central differential or gear change but it doesn't sound as I would expect (and I've driven many more off road orientated 4x4s in my time)

Drove it 30miles this morning (and then back again) and tested it just after setting off. Car was in the normal Auto mode where it likes to short shift, rather than the Sport/Dynamic which makes it hang on to gears.

For the car to shift down to second from third, I had to let it coast down for quite a while. It eventually shifted down to second at about 15mph. There were no noises/clunks or anything. Perfectly smooth and silent :).

For reference, it's a C7 A6 3.0TFSI S-Tronic. So that's the DL501 gearbox, with the post 2009 Quattro all-wheel-drive setup (40/60 front-to-rear torque split).

Thanks for that :)

Yes that's the same as mine except I've got the 3.0 TDI engine. I've now tried two cars other than mine, and had two people say the same as you so time for another call to Audi I think.

My mum has an 11 plate Golf 1.4 7 speed DSG. About a year ago it starting becoming sluggish when in first or second gear and really slow speeds and didnt seem as responsive, 4 weeks later we got it back from VW after the gearbox was 100% replaced.
