Wall plug damage to plasterboard fix?

I think i will get these. May need a new drill for them too!
If your house is fairly modern, the internal skin will be thermalite blocks or something similar. They are usually incredibly soft, to the point where you can drill into them with wood bits (it'll dull them though). I'd first try some masonry bits and you probably won't even need to use hammer. IIRC the hole size for these is 10mm.

If your house is older and they're bricks then yeah you might need a beefier drill/bits. I can vouch for the cheapo SDS Titan from screwfix, but it is huge and if you're only buying it for this it's probably a waste.

The other thing you’ll need is a long drill bit. Standard length masonry bits are not long enough, I had to go out and buy a long one to drill the holes for these with my combi drill.

I thought about this, and yeah looking at the size of the things I will definitely need a longer bit

Did you re-plaster the existing holes @413x

I would want the steel core of the corefix fitting sitting on solid plasterboard, due to the lever effect between the solid wall and the plasterboard.

Those corefix fixings are excellent though, and a great idea.

Just tried to drill this with the core fix and the drill exploded.
No idea what's behind this.
