Want a brand new car, but not sure if i can get one

If you're really set on a new vehicle, at least have a look at the nearly new vehicles on Ford Direct. Will your Ford friend be able to get a discount on these vehicles to?

Speak to moeks he has a car for sale that would suit you.;)

Oh yea, yours for £5k ...tis a 2000 BMW 540i Sport Auto ...it has wood and leather and a 286bhp/325lb/ft 32v V8 engine ...it's finished in Titanium Silver with black leather and walnut. It has pretty new brakes, tyres, a lot of new suspension components, newish radiator, water pump, header tank ...it has new rocker cover gaskets, a new oil separator valve and a set of newish Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tyres (expensive!) ...it had a full Inspection II in March and just last week I did an interim oil change, fully synthetic of course! ...oh and I had the brake fluid changed recently too since the old stuff was shot.

Beautiful car and very powerful. There are one or two niggles though if I'm honest :) ...a spot of rust around the inside of the near-side rear wheel arch to ...and the boot lid could do with some ...attention.

I recommend you look at an approved used Focus or something, based on what you have said. You'll save a lot of money over buying new, any issues it may have had will likely have already been sorted and you should get some warranty with it too. I suspect my car would have you listening to 'Suicide Solution' a little too often ...then again you aren't coming from an immaculate Jaguar XJ8 you'ed be coming from a 10 year old Punto, so maybe not.

I know you have had issues with it, but it sounds interesting and worth a punt. I'm pretty sure it will / would get sorted.

Shame I really want another e38 not an e39,£5k to buy it, plenty to sort it out left in budget.... :o :D

Well to be absolutely fair to it, I have given the next owner a damn good head start. They don't have to worry about anything like tyres, brakes, fluids, cooling system etc. What they will need to look at is having the inlet manifold off, cleaned and all the gaskets replaced in there and all of the rubber in the intake system sorted. It 'might' want an off-side rear shock too (you'ed need to do both though obviously), more likely though it's just the rear anti-roll bar drop-links causing the clonk as the handling is fine. The paint-work could be a little pricey to get sorted though, as really the boot lid could do with coming off and being resprayed entirely.

Also, the other little caveat is the rattle I get, which has been reduced quite a bit by the oil change, it absolutely drives me nuts, I hate it and this has coloured my view of the car. Maybe it's the VANOs units, maybe it's the chain on the oil-pump ...I don't know for sure and neither does anyone else. If both VANOS units want replacing though that's expensive, along with all the intake stuff that needs attention ...paint, suspension etc. I reckon someone could easily spend £2k on it to get it ...just right if it is the VANOS units.

And indeed could be both with you ending up the far side of £3k to "get it right" Then it comes down to "can you trust it" to not generate anything too big again, then sods law comes into play and your into silly money for a car that you don't even want to keep long term perhaps...

Its a nightmare, but I understand your wanting to bail out....

I have the feeling that somebody will drop on with your car, finally fixing the niggles for sod all..... As i say, sods law & all that!

Look at dealer approved cars with a years warranty, in most cases they are just like new but with mileage on the clock, the dealers usually remove any scratches etc and you wont have to take the depreciation

If you have the money to buy a new car outright then good for you, however if you buy a new car on finance you have the the interest on top of the amount you are borrowing and the depreciation of the car, negative equity is an ugly thing and buying a new car on finance we'll put you way down into the red. Unlesss of course you have a heathly deposit that covers this

A Focus Zetec-S is no more a real car than an Astra.

unless its this astra :D

I have my eye on a Black Focus Zetec S

The Focus is now long in the tooth, the interior is getting well below it's main rivals, the engine line up is also very old. It's probably the worst of the bunch on everything but 'chassis feel' which it's always excelled at.

Both Volkswagon and Vauxhall offer much newer tech/engines with better quality/designed interiors etc, and even better standard equipment.

Specifically, the 1.4T NEW Astra SRi, and Golf 1.4TSi Golf S are pretty good value for money cars that until the new Focus comes around would be better bets then a Zetec S IMO..

*and of course Vauxhalls 100K lifetime warranty (guaranteed to get some frothing at the mouth) would suit an average mile owner who kept their cars for a long time..

Personally, I'd obviously take others advice, don't buy new, and get something better value for money, all I am saying is, a new Focus is at this exact time is especially not a good buy.
