Want to go somewhere amazing for Christmas

Lanzarote?

I went there in November to do a beach lifeguard course, is was quiet that time of year and definitely warm enough.
I went to lanzarote in november/december 5 odd years ago and it rained on and off the whole week. Lots of cloud cover each day and not too warm. I think for guaranteed warm weather you need to travel a bit further.

I couldn't tell you if the Little Chip is still there, I moved away from Middlesbrough in 2013. The walk along South Gate is a nice one though!

Ha ha - years since I've been to Redcar - was at college there in 92-94 and most lunches (was only there a day a week) were from the little chip  cracking chippy

Ahhh that's a shame, I'm not sure if we got lucky or not as not familiar with the weather but we had blue skies and mid 20's all week.

Concessiond must be made in these unprecedented times. :D

You’ve got that right, I was there one November, and you do not want to be crossing the Danube via the Liberty Bridge which connects Buda with Pest without a few layers under your fur collared leather coat :(

Budapest will be baltic! And quite grey in a communist kinda way. Lovely city, but yeah.

Any reason you poo pooed Dubai? Dad lived in UAE for 7 years and you can easily avoid the crass bits whilst still enjoying the 5/6* experience and seeing some culture, excursions etc. Even there it's not that warm in December mind.

As far as amazing goes, Israel is incredible. Haven't been to Jordan but heard equally incredible things, but it's not in the best shape at this present moment.

Isn't somewhere like the Maldives within your flight parameter?

Dubai was a no due to mixed reviews and human rights issues (she took umbrage).
Maldives is for another time, my Dad goes there every year with his wife, may join him next year.
Budapest will be cold, but we have booked the Anantara New York Palace and plan to eat a lot of good food and see the good bits. Plus, they actually celebrate Christmas unlike Morocco and we have changed our minds and think it would be nice to have a proper Christmas day in a realty nice restaurant somewhere. Not eating any carp though.

I heard Staines is nice

It’s none too big, quiet, not tropical by any means and thinks a lot of itself, but if you’re used to places like Rhyl,
Blackpool, Skegness or Barlinnie prison, then Staines is akin to the garden spot of the Western Hemisphere.

Cape verde is hot this time of year. A week is perfect for doing everything but not being rushed.

Only reason I wouldn't go again is I don't go to places twice

All fair enough!

Went to Budapest 3 years ago for our work Christmas party. The Christmas market etc is lovely and the thermal baths are still hot so make sure you get booked in there.

We’re lucky to get a tenner from the company to contribute towards costs and you get flown to another country! Sheesh!
I’m in the wrong game!
Though they’ve completed cancelled it this year, maybe I’ll get a £10 Uber eats voucher…

Well it's my business tbf but yeah... we've been to Athens, Bucharest, Warsaw, Budapest, Krakow and Bruges... had to miss last year because of COVID :(. This year we're going to Riga.

Went to Rivera Maya in Mexico in December in 2018 and was warm enough for shorts 24/7 and mid 20's all week with the occasional bit of cloud on a few days.
