In my new system i want to use Raid 0 as i use my computer for mainly gaming. I also have a home server so that will be used for backups.

I just want to know as a person who has never setup a pc to use Raid 0 is it easy or will i need some help?

also what are the requirements? i know ill need two hard disks which i have do i need any additional components like a controller card?

What motherboard do you have? Most onboard controllers suffice though more expensive ones are out there.

Check your motherboard manual - mine had all that I needed in it and even included a walkthrough.

Had a look into storage management on my motherboard, i dont actually have it yet but i went to the website and got the manual and i was happy to see all the features it had for me, its nvidia branded and the overclocking features are emense!

Well after i saw storage management and (Raid) i flicked to that page, turns out it has wizards allowing me to select what type of raid and can even build and array if i wanted which is cool.

my hard drive setup will be:

Western Digital hard drives

250GB x 2 + 500GB

(C) System
(D) Applications
(E) Storage
(D) Backup

what memory should i have for each and what raid config should i use?

I would use your 2 x 250GB HDD's with a RAID 0 array and install your OS on this.
Then you can have your single drive for data, backup etc.

Configure your HDD's through the bios of your motherboard for RAID.

I would recommend a fresh install of the OS where you will need to install the RAID drivers from a floppy or USB drive using the f6 option (xp)
