I don't have the figures on me, but for example, if the X-box sold 20 mill worldwide at a loss and the GC sold 15 mill worldwide at a profit, even Stevie Wonder can see which has been the most successfull.
And in that respect, the cube wiped the floor mightily with the X-box

Yeah simple the Xbox won.. Nintendo aimed to make money and they did that. Microsofts objective was to break into the console market which they did and outsold a major player in the industry going by those two figures

they only won on their terms. nintendo made more profit from the GC than microsoft did for the xbox, so nintendo wont be going out any time soon.
