Hi all basically as the title says im wanting to build a cheap gaming bundle, im not wanting to play them on the full setting as i have an xbox i play mainly. also want it for just day to day things basically, not wanting to spend around that much, i already have a case lying around so wanting to start my build if anybody can show me in the right direction of parts to buy and good bundles, anything really. thanks

Budgets and requirements help a great deal also which games you will be thinking about playing.

Do you have a KB&M? Operating system? Screen?

TBH there is nothing worse than buying a semi decent system and putting in a POS case. It's like buying a decent engine and putting it in a Toyota Aygo.

Let us know the above, gives us more of an idea which route to take bud.

"im not wanting to play them on the full setting as i have an xbox i play mainly"

Why not have a standard PC for browsing/internet and use your Xbox for games, no point building a casual PC to match the standards of a console you currently have.

I have to admit that I agree with this. Unless of course you're wanting it to play PC exclusives and indie games?

Also welcome to the forums jbird!

thanks, and yes PC exclusive and some games play better on PC i think. plus i mite really get into PC gaming and make the turn.

im looking to spend around £200 ish, ive got a few things laying around

case
ram (ddr3)
dvd drive

just after a decent motherboard CPU and graphics card that will play most games comfortable.

thanks

What kind of case is it, ATX, M-ATX...

How much RAM, and what speed....

Don't hold back on the details, mate. Everything helps.

If you're seriously considering the turn full time, then it might be a good idea to invest in a good system. £200 is pretty hard to get a decent gaming PC from, unless you buy used/last gen parts as they're generally cheaper.

Cheapest gaming build OCUK has is 395 right now:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-345-OE&groupid=43&catid=2475&subcat=2602

But that is without an OS. I've never tried to build one for £200 myself, even with having some available components. Although for a decent one, you may have to grab some of those used/last gen parts. You'd need a CPU, GPU, PSU & Mobo for £200, doable on OCUK, although it does depend on the games you want to play.

hmmm, ill have to have look around, id say the game id probley play the most is COD, MC thats probs about it till a few more titles come out.

I have a OS and will use windows 7

i dont mind second hand parts im just looking for advice of what models of things to get, im a complete novice at this and just looking to be put in a direction.

Or why not save a little bit more money and actually decide what you intend to do with your build?

Sure saving money takes time, but definitely worth it specially if you want to have a decent build.

Second hand parts are good but only depends where you get them from, Ebay? Amazon? I'd rather get brand new parts for extra money because of the warranty :)

Okay. Well here's a start, APU build, and assuming you have a hard drive with your OS on it already:

YOUR BASKET
1 x AMD A8-5600K Black Edition 3.60GHz (Socket FM2) APU Trinity Quad Core Processor (AD560KWOHJBOX) £71.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLAD38G2400HC11CDC01) £55.99
1 x Asus A55BM-E AMD A55 Chipset (Socket FM2+) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £37.99
1 x SuperFlower Amazon 300W "80 Plus Bronze" Power Supply £29.99
Total : £205.56 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Mobo with FM2+ socket for upcoming Kaveri's, but no HDMI.

YOUR BASKET
1 x AMD A10-5800K Black Edition 3.80GHz (Socket FM2) APU Trinity Quad Core Processor (AD580KWOHJBOX) £99.95
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLAD38G2400HC11CDC01) £55.99
1 x Gigabyte F2A88XM-HD3 AMD A88X (Socket FM2+) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £52.99
1 x SuperFlower Amazon 300W "80 Plus Bronze" Power Supply £29.99
Total : £248.52 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Better processor and graphics and better mobo with HDMI.

You can, of course, find better components second-hand. But this is more or less what your budget will get you in new parts, so you can get an idea.

thanks for that, ill have a look around and see what i can find and post the build up on here for you guys to tell me if im on the right track?

Yes mate. Just don't post links to any seller's websites or mention competitors. Linking to manufacturer websites is fine.

i have no found the RAM aswell is corsair XMS3 1gb 1600 MHZ and i have four of these. Any good?

1. You would need to make sure the mobo you select has 4 memory slots, which will probably raise the spending on the mobo, making it a catch-22 situation.

2. These days you should be aiming for 8GB, although yes you can make do with 4GB for a time.

3. The speed of the RAM helps APU graphics a lot, and whilst 1600 is okay, it's not great either. Aim for about 2400MHz in the long run.

So you have to decide. Maybe play it by ear when you see what mobos are available.
