wanting to create a website

I'm interested in why you think Notepad++ is crap? I've found it to be an excellent lightweight editor.

I just find the interface too confusing to be honest- I find notepad2's interface much simpler and nicer to use that's all :) It's most probably me not knowing how to use most of the functions in notepad++ but for my needs, notepad2 does the job best

And on the dreamweaver front, I wasn't aware that there was a code editor in it having used it for about 5 minutes and then ditching it :o A bit of a big price tag though for a code editor :D

I agree that you shouldn't use Dreamweaver, etc. I used it to create websites for a long time. What you find is that you don't understand the code and why it does what it does. DW is ok for hum-drum sites but if you want to create something personal and unique then I think writing every line of code by hand is the only way. It also means you know the code intimately if you want to make a small change, etc.

And it's more fun and you learn a lot more :)

Downside is that you spend half-an-hour wondering why it looks rubbish until you spot the dumbass typo you made in your code, but it's part of the experience :p
