Sniper rifles /DMRs are awful in S2. Damage has been nerfed hard across the whole spectrum. Recon is now essentially a spotter role only. For example, it takes the SKS 5 body shots to kill an unarmoured enemy. Two headshots if not wearing a helmet.

So Ive been levelling up driver & support instead. Not far off getting the T72 tank.
Oh, I definitely wasn’t even taking a sniper/dmr weapon. I was taking AK’s etc but a combination of lacking gear + slower reactions against higher level unlocked players = a bit of a disaster.

Not my experience at all, though I rely heavily on my Mosin. I'm actually getting to be a pretty decent sniper. Had a run in with another cheater, snapped straight to me and headshot. He got instantly banned with the new server message. Got my first 900+ meter shot tonight. Not a kill but was pleased I hit him. Unlocked the bow, but that's not my thing.

Genuinely loving it still, I find the key is to focus on one class at a time.
Mosin isn't a DMR. They include the SKS, SVD and BMR. Mosin can still headshot a T1 helmet. There are loads of threads on reddit and Steam complaining about how heavily the DMRs ( and recon weapons in general ) have been nerfed.

They needed to be nerfed.

The SVD was a front line combat weapon so often in S1, the amount of times I’d get melted mid range by someone with an SVD when I’m running l3 armour was ridiculous.

And the BMR, yeah, that was a mess.

Running the hot zone should always be the most profitable/important part of the game, this is an FPS game, you should always have a squad pushing for that.

Nothing worse than joining mid game and your entire team is just sat sniping or building fobs, yawn.

I still think they need to find a way to encourage team work between the different play styles, and squad chat does this.

Can call for sniper support, speak to the squad leader of the fob and say you need mortar support etc etc.

I get that they want it to be a sandbox, but squad play makes this game as amazing as it is, and I think they should be leaning more into this.

Agreed, BMR was overpowered in S1. But the solution was to tune that weapon back a bit, not nerf every DMR. As a weapon group, they are so bad now they may as well be removed from the game.

Season 3 is going to be brought forward due unintended issues with the changes made in Season 2 that resulted in people unlocking high end gear within a few days.

And each wipe player numbers will dwindle. Kind of crazy that with all the stats at their finger tips they made this big a blunder still for season 2.
Sounds like they're going to abandon this season within the next few days ... which is a slap in the face for the average player with limited play time. The devs have shown they have almost zero idea how to balance the game ... they've adopted a very heavy handed approach and decimated the damage output for multiple weapon types / ammo. As things stand, there is no point using anything else than an assault rifle and/or shotgun. Certain roles eg. driving, support / building are way behind others with respect to progression. This season has been a CQC/HZ fest ... to the detriment of everything else. Also, the amount of players cheating this season has ramped up considerably ( mostly Asian players who still haven't been filtered out from the EU servers despite the ping limits ).

I highly doubt it will be a few days. I expect a couple of weeks at least, maybe a month-long again. EU servers are completely flooded with Chinese players this morning. The 250 ping limit needs to be cut in half. It is ridiculous.

In their tweet the devs intimated they are pondering doing it once this weekend is finished.

With a VPN they can "spoof" ping to be 150ms ... so the limit needs to be set below that.

I’m really enjoying watching these seasonal updates and wipes play out, even with all the chaos. I quite like that it’s such a big player base and a big mix, from the no-lifers to casual players like myself just trying to fit in.

Even when things feel unbalanced or the devs make what appears to be a blunder, it's still a great sandbox to experment in. My only real issue is the cheater count; for me I feel like they need to get a grip on that soon, or I might be move on to something else.

Couldn't agree more. Yes, there are many flaws, but my god is this game fun. I love that it is pulling in those who don't typically play this genre of shooter, and that these players can still find something enjoyable, such as building a crazy fob fortress.

I do really love this game, but it is really ******* annoying when you join a match half way through, so you cant spawn using the APC, jump in someones chopper who throws you out over a load of bad guys, you get shot out of there air then its either complete loss or wait, like 10 minutes for someone to get you.

Yeah, I've taken to using the quad bike if the APC is not up and running. Although it takes a few mins to get there, I usually arrive safe, and where I want to be.

When I have take a chopper ride, I've noticed recently more pilots are prepared to land and let you out.
Let likely to be recon spotted this way.

Yea or the other thing I've just started doing is taking the free load out plus parachute so just £500 which I couldn't care less about.

Actually did that just now and ended up with a really good kit in the end.

As much as I love this game I think the initial wow is waining a bit and I'm starting to get frustrations, there is nothing worse than joining a potato team half way through a game.

I also am starting to see some people getting insanely good which I wasn't a few days ago.......but who knows.

If they are "insanely" good and have a high ping, then they are probably cheating.

I'm having a similar experience ... one match can be amazing then another can be utterly frustrating. I now just insta quit if I start a match that's been going for 15+ mins already.

Got stuck in a match with lots of Russians and Chinese people tonight. Got one shotted by a guy with a 50cal no scope twice from probably 900m away. He didn't get banned. It was very frustrating. Earlier today though I had amazing fun on an almost 2hr match that was incredibly close.

I ran as a recon/medic/builder made serious bank, and got a lot of xp on all 3. Unlocked the sv98 and love that gun!

Yea it's simply not worth persevering with a potato team.

My new thing it's kinda fun actually, when you first join, mid match, just take the free gun plus parachute and drop in.

If it becomes apparent it's a potato team either change team or quit and join another server - you've not lost anything.

If not if can be fun following people around and scavenging kits, I've ended up with quite a lot of different stuff I wouldn't normally have.

To try and balance things they should give some kind of slight boost to a losing team with a sliding scale, so maybe 10-20 tickets nothing, but then 20-50 some kind of economic boost, maybe a discount at the vendor or something like that, nothing major though, and if your team is 50+ tickets behind the others then it gets more significant.

I do enjoy the zero to hero play! I tend to take a range finder and a parachute and try to follow the hot zone group. It forces me to play very differently and likewise experiment with equipment I'd not normally use.
