Perosnally, i am one, and i love the hobby aspects, Greenstuff is good...

I played warhammer for years and years.. I think between age 9 and 15. I've still got loads of the stuff stashed in my room at my parent's house, but havn't played in years..

Its good fun, but can be taken too far. No difference from PC games in principle - in fact it's better, as you're always playing with real people so there's at least a bit of socialising involved :P

very true

I used to like painting and building the models. The actual gaming side of things I never really got into. Most of my games involved huge armies and would never get finished.

I used to paint the models, but haven't really had time to do anything for a long time :(
6 years of the forums and UO addiction sort of limits what I can do in the way of models.

I'm seriously thinking about starting up again in the near future once i've finished sorting my room out (the Tau look an interesting race and I can think of some nice colour schemes for them).
If I could find the Dark Elder models I had started painting before giving up I would be having a go with them (I joined in a game with my younger brother and a friend the other week and i've had the itch - but i can't find the models and i'm sure I didn't throw them out).

Seriously, would you want to socialise with anyone who plays Warhammer?

How else would they play a game without socialising with somebody else that plays.... kinda difficult don't you think.

Well...two of the people I know who are really into warhammer are also heavily into computer games and have pretty good social lives (and jobs).

I know, it's a shock to see a stereotype broken.

Warhammer etc are no more geeky (to me) than being heavily into cars, computers etc - the painting of the models can be (from memory) extremely relaxing and enjoyable, and the gaming aspect if you get the right group of people can be really fun.

I dunno, we had a warhammer club back in school. Those guys were beyond bottom of the social ladder. There are always exceptions, but on average I don't know of a geekier(sp?) group..
