Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning

Don't mean breaking it as such, just would be nice if you could say keep the enemy back as long as you want, kinda like what the Eve online guys are always going on about. I read how that universe works, and how it's constantly evolving, which areas are controlled by which faction etc.
This would be immense in a game like this one.
I'm really looking forward to this, but not too sure whether or not I wanna get into it, since i dont want something to take my life over.... again.

The problem with that is the glory hunters that will all jump in with the winning side. And the defeated army won't get new recruits because, let's face it, who's going to sign up just to get beaten all the time.
Once one side gets on top it will most likely stay on top without intervention from GMs and NPCs.

Maybe a nice feature would be to allow other races of the same alignment to 'rescue' a defeated faction. So if the Greenskins took the Dwarf capital Empire and High Elf characters could come riding in to tip the balance back the other way again. Holding the front against the extra variety of classes would be a big challenge I'm sure.

Yeah the fmv trailer looks great and all, but are any of he other links scatterd about on this thread showing >in-game< video? No point getting all excited without; as ive seen plenty of great intro's attached to **** games. :)

Planetside had a good system for getting people to play the underdog team.
If you joined the team with the lowest active population you got XP faster.

Planetside did allot of things well for a persistant world combat game, my m8s who play DAOC are all still saying "trust me this will be great".

DAoC did the same, you also got 5% bonus to all forms of PvP/RvR and you also got a free level every 2 days (instead of every 5.)

Just thought id bump this thread back up. To add the comment that i cant wait for this to come out.

Looks fantastic and hopefully it will beat the damage wow did to me hehe

Not sure that's the case... look at EVE. There's a lot of people rallying against Band of Brothers, simply because they're the big bogey. That's partly because of the cheating of course, but personally I'd decided as soon as I found out who was considered the top dogs, that I was against them. Lots of people like to be the underdog, and lots of people don't like being a little cog in the biggest machine. I'd sooner lose interestingly than win inevitably.

I understand that mentality in a guild system but when you've only go to two sides to choose from you'd need some kind of incentive to pick the one getting constantly hammered. although the challenge alone could be an incentive for some players.

Incidentally it looks like high level characters from other realms will be able to assist other races of the same alignment in Warhammer. I don't know if this will be persistent or only available when a capital is under threat. My hope would be for the latter personally, but from a commercial sense continual access is probably better.

Found some other warhammer online vids that I hadn't seen before, thought others might be interested -

cool :) not seen those yet

I think I'll prob buy this game, if only for a month of play. It's a shame it does seem quite similar to WoW tho :( (altho being warhammer it will be better, I hope)

Be interesting to see how they do WH40K MMORPG or even MMORPGFPS :)
