Warhammer Online

I am ordering online, I mean ****.com. Which means I should probably get a pre-order box as they are a 'Pre-order campaign partner'. I might have to ring them and see what they say concerning the pre-order box.

I don't expect any replies from beta-testers, but from what i've seen, the graphics look pretty average? Obviously it's going to draw comparisons to AoC, and I can't see that the current look of WAR will last for any great length of time. Does anyone get the same impressions from looking at the screens/videos?

The game dynamics interest me a great deal, but the graphics will quite possibly put me off.

theres a reason for that, something to do with the size of the battles ^^

The graphics look very very similar to WoW's, with the whole 'cartoony' art style. I think the cartoony style will also make the graphics more easy on the older computers so a wide range of people can play the game rather than have people who need upto date gaming rigs to run it well.

I actually don't/wouldn't compare the graphics to AoC as they look nothing alike, I would definitely compare them to WoW more. I'm not saying the cartoony graphics are a bad thing as I liked that art style in WoW. So imo the graphics look great, and they will probably be a lot better than WoW's yet will be using a very similar style.

Indeed, there is a reason why AoCs battles and sieges are limited to small numbers, its because its the price to be paid for having great graphics.

WAR, as Daoc was before it, is designed for hundreds fighting each other at once. As such, a certain amount of leeway has to be given with the graphics. IMO, the graphics are very much a cross between WoW and Daoc. They're not state of the art, but they're fine enough for me. Other aspects more than make up for it :)

The current beta engine does not have the facility to change graphics quality, which is around low atm. Also no lighting is enabled either. Couple this with plenty of place holder graphics, and we can't actually say what the final graphics will look like. I don't think it'll compete with AoCC, but i think many people will be pleasently supprised.

Gah! I got my Beta invite and I can't remember my password :S

When I ask for a reminder, the answer to my secret question isn't right :(

Anything I can hassle about this?

Try making a post about it at warhammeralliance.com , couple of the Devs frequent that forum on nearly a daily basis. Alternatively , in your beta invite email you most likely will have got the email address either for Imaad or Requiel, so you could try emailing them directly, I would put their emails on here but they might not appreciate it

Ok so I contacted the Jersey store (****.com) this morning and asked them about the pre-order boxes and they said they are sending them out at the end of this month or beginning of next month. But I was in town today and decided to go and have a look around the shop with three letters and they had the pre-order boxes but you had to pay £9.99 for it. But on the Jersey store, when you pre-order stuff with them they don't take the money out until the game is released and they are ready to ship it, so does this mean I will be getting the pre-order box for free or what? I don't understand now lol.

Anyone else get a beta invite for this recently? Too bad my comp is completely buggered, will have to fix it up

Yeah, you will be getting the preorder box, with the 3 codes in, I have mine preordered with Jersey too.

They just wont ship it or deduct the money until its worth shipping, at the moment you cant use any of the codes in the preorder box anyway, and the open beta code in there wont be any use until open beta actually starts.

Having said that, they (the jersey peeps), have been quite ambigious about how they are handling this, and in recent weeks its made me consider cancelling my 2 preorders with them and going down to the 3letter place instead.

I am not fussed about the open beta codes, as I am already in the closed beta anyway, but dont want to miss the early access :D

Yeah I want to make sure I get into open beta/early access and get the special in-game items, basically just the CE itself as it looks damn good.
