Warhammer Total War Confirmed

And I am still holding out for a GOTY or similar release that will happen at some point or when we can pick up with all the DLC in sale on steam at least.

I bought it during the Steam summer sale that just finished with all the DLC. Saved quite a bit of cash that way. Think you'll probably have to wait for the Steam Christmas sale now.

Tbh that was plan. Good time to get it as weather will be rubbish and nights early so can stay in rather than wanting to head out on the motorcycle ;)

Savings were pretty meh on the dlc. Still far too overpriced I thought

I didn't mind too much. It is pretty much the only premium game I have bought this year so getting TW: Warhammer with all the DLC and pre-ordering TW: Warhammer 2 were worth it for me. Especially if I play them as much as I think I will.

The only dlc that was really overpriced was the beastmen.

Chaos warriors came free as pre-order and was ok.

Blood and gore was cheap

Grim and grave plus the king and he warlord were both fairly priced with good content and brought in RoR.

Wood elves was expensive but the content was good with a good mini campaign.

Beastmen was poor for its price and the mini campaign dull with incomplete roster.

Norsca is free if you pre order warhammer 2 and they have 27 units which I think is the largest roster plus a unique play style.

However the new flc is going bring free content for the existing dlc, most likely wood elves and beastmen, probably extra units or RoR.

Warhammer TW is a very solid game, one of the good things about it is the fact that all races play different.

Siege battles are the only weak point but the custom settlement mod is fun and well put together and Goes some way to address this problem.

Compared to the main game the content offered just did not marry up to the price.

Let's say you paid full price you got the huge campaign map, all the multiplayer maps, all the races included (6?) Plus the actual mechanics of the game for £35

The beastmen and wood elves were What, £15? For a single new race each time and a mini campaign for each.

That was my biggest gripe. Also can't understand why got was a paid dlc. Should have been an Age restricted flc. It's a core feature of the game and warhammer universe.

Yeah I don't agree that compared to the base game the DLC's were good price and I don't often if ever really buy games full price now because I just don't game often enough. Chaos once priced as DLC is too expensive. I have seen the mini campaigns, read the reviews and watched the YT vids and think they are pointless and add nothing.

Beastmen was poor at best.

The Blood For The Blood God was stupid to paid for. It is a graphic option at best and should have just selected based on age.

So yeah until I can pick it all up for £20-£25 I will sit tight. I think it was around £40-£45 even in sale total.

It all depends on how quickly you want to play the dlc. I am sure wood elf fans would have been happy to pay to play that faction.

I think I have spent approx 90quid on the game all in all and got about 300 hours of playtime so far and I still need to do a wood elf, bretonia and vampire campaign to conclusion on v hard. Not to mention upcoming Norsca so I can imagine I will be close to 500hrs after that lot. That's before even touching multiplayer.

I certainly feel I have had my monies worth. The dlc will also carry over to warhammer 2 and 3 uber campaign so in the grand scheme of things I think it's worth the money.

Anyway they are getting rid of campaign dlc for game 2 due to the average reception of mini campaigns, going to be replaced by larger lord packs instead so perhaps the price of dlc will come down.

There is also a rumour that Krell is coming before game 2 is released, not sure if that will be dlc or flc.

This is what I am most looking forward to and the main reason I pre-ordered Warhammer 2 and bought all the DLC for the original Warhammer as well. It should be pretty fun playing the massive campaign that spans between games.

Honestly I think I would feel better about it but a certain few things to me that shouldn't of been behind pay walls to start with is what bothers me about CA & Sega business practice.

Edit: being burnt previous and feeling like we got half of what was suggested/promised in previous iterations hasn't completely left me.

Totally agree about the DLC. £14 for just one race? I paid £25 for the whole game on release. Even in the sale the wood elves and beastmen dlc was still ~£10.

I would like the wood elves DLC but i won't pay more than £5 for it, espeically as the game is old now and the second one is due out in 2 months.

ZOMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG...

Some god damn genius has gone and made a mod called "AI General Mode"... which, yup you guessed it... lets the AI control as many of your units as you like! This was a feature on Rome Total War and I found it an absolute god-send for improving my enjoyment of the game as I'm not a fan of huge levels of micro and some units are so fiddly and annoying that just letting the AI do what is best with them is a very good thing.

AI General Mode can be seen and downloaded here http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=882588765

Works well too. Awesome. :)
