Warnings for 2012

Ok, I need to set some priorities here. Can someone help me rank my things-to-worry-about in order so that I can allocate the appropriate amount of time to fretting over each of them?

I know we have:

The big solar storm
Peak oil
The giant volcano under Yellowstone Park
That asteroid/meteor that's going to either nearly hit us or kill us all
The black hole that's going to be created by the Large Hardon Collider when it's working properly again
Global warming/global dimming
The coming ice age
Bird flu
MRSA/VRSA
The dying bees
Terrorism/the axis of weevils/rogue nukes

Be great if I could plan my day's worrying effectively. Cheers!

Come on, even Fox say "Powerful Solar Storm Could Shut Down U.S. for Months".

Yet you choose to believe that this "will" happen.

We certainly need to look into the possibility of a peak in solar radiation, but to try and spread panic by stating that something will definitely happen is a bit OTT.

They would hardly use a word like "it will". See my post above.

I've been told by someone in the know that the electricity and power will be cut for 6 days on dec 21 2012 and there will be possible wide scale pandomonium when our solar system aligns with the center of galaxy for the first time in 10,000s of years. Though it won't be the end of the world, just some big changes.

I reckon this "someone in the know" speaks with a forked tongue.

See what I did there?

You forgot magnetic reversal, which is along the same lines as the solar storm, which my lecturer (a palaeomag specialist) worryingly reckons is a possibility within the next couple of hundred years...

Also if I remember rightly there is another solar cycle assigned to solar activity (aside from the 12 year and Milankovich cycles), and it shows the suns cycles are actually weakening, and will be for the next several hundred years, so we're in luck there.

Please dont bring crap like that in here.

Like any good nut, they will always get something right and i think it might be this.

Even if the government knew, why would they tell us? Pople would just give up, theres no point working your ass off, if its all going to hell in a few years.

It's not something the government would know, it's a bit like the week of snow we (well some of us :() had in feb, it's unpredictable until just before the event.

Yeah and look what happened with a week of snow fall.

Just think what will happen when all power goes down

No food or petrol gets to stores. Hospital backup power starts to fail under the load. The list really is endless.

I am just glad i live in the country side were i can at least grow some simple food and stock pile stuff like petrol and live off a genny until at least something comes back on-line

Daily Mail? Hahahahahahahahahahha

If dont have any useful to say, just clear off.

If this does happen at least you can use that crap paper for some warmth while you sit at home wishing you had stock piled some basic items like water etc.

I think you left out Super Tsunami...oh and Skynet :D

Edit: Super Tsunami specifically caused by an eruption of Cumbre Vieja which would wipe out coast lines all around the Atlantic Ocean.

Yes, but that was a small flare. What happens when one 100 times the size hits us
