Girlfriend and I buy Assassins Creed for her brother, I pay £10, she pays £20. It gets delivered to me at work.

I take it home, take the seal off and carefully remove the authenticity sticker, and start playing it (figure I will see what it's like and get some achievement points as well)

She had a propoer strop at me saying that it is 2nd hand now. Her brother is 14, he won't know/care that the plastic wrapper isn't on it. (I hate the wrapper, I would prefer a game WITHOUT it anyway, it takes too long to take off)

Would you have done the same? or have I been unfair here?

She just emailed me saying she hid the game, but I don't think she realises the disk is is my 360 still :p

I wouldn't do that, it's a gift. The kid probably won't care but I wouldn't want it to have been opened and played.

A gift is a gift; really don't fret, and tell her you always try on the undies you buy for her every birthday too :)

Would you have appreciated it if you were to receive gifts that had been used before being handed over to you as a Christmas present? It isn't right to have opened it tbh, but not much you can do about it now.

LOL. The worst thing is, she has been listening to a CD for the last 3 weeks that she bought her mum for Chirstmas. She will soon be wrapping it up.

Apparently it isn't the same as the CD wasn't sealed.

She is obviously insane and a complete hypocrite if she is basically doing the same thing. I personally wouldn't do it cause my brothers would know since we use the same Live account :D. But she was out of order, not you.

You shouldn't have done it, its a gift! It just sounds like a really scummy thing to do lol!

Not that i want to be on your side but games you buy from the highstreet don't have the wrapping on anyway cos they keep the games and stuff in drawers behind the counter, and i guess its not so bad if you don't leave any trace of it being used... i just wouldn't do it on principle.

I've bought games for friends for their birthdays and at christmas occasionally I've never opened them and played them first though, I just borrow them off them when they are finished, does seem a little cheeky.

Notice how the people that bought a Wii for "their kids" but "had to see if it works" aren't adding to this thread!! :D

lol true. My brother is getting a Vaio laptop for Christmas, but i wanted to "set it up for him" first. Well i kinda did, cause it was cluttered with pre-installed crap from them like Norton. :p

I would not have opened it as most kids know games are plastic sealed. However, she is worse as she has done the same yet is giving you ear ache over it.

So to some up the universal truth of life:

If a woman does it then it is OK, but there will be hell to pay if a man does it!

I don't think i would care if i got given it as a gift but if i had bought it myself i would have to have it sealed.
