Was I wrong, or everyone else?

Nothing changes.

Reminds me of one of my first starcraft games online maybe 11 years ago? I built a load of towers because I didn't know any better in a 2v2 and ended up getting berated by my teammate and the opposition for the remainder of the game. I was brown so they were coming up with examples of other substances with that colour to summarise my tactic.

No reason for not having skill matching these days. Also roll on progress toward sub-communities within games so you don't have to play with tards if you don't want to.

People make noob only games so they can stomp noobs. Check their stats before playing with them.

Spot on, even if I am new to a game I always avoid labelled noob servers. Its probably why the guy the OP was playing with had such a good record.

This pretty much happened to me when I first purchased AoE3. I joined a game and said it was my first time playing online, which I recieved no answer from the other players. So we start and eventually I have my team shouting at me and the opponents mocking - despite the fact that I kept reiterating that it was only my first time playing, pretty much put me off playing it online again if that's what the community is like. I used to hardcore AoE2 and it was a really good community, so was a little dissapointed with my experience in AoE3.

Yeah I played COH online once and I think that put me off RTS games online for life.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I called one host on this he exclaimed "oh, so you really are a noob?"

oh dear.

ya but the coh games dont specify noob in the title...

and because the matchmaking system lacks a little bit in intelligence, theres nothing really to stop say a 2v2 random pitting a lvl 15 with a level 2 noob vs 2x lvl10+

and if your the lvl 15 and streaking and suddenly yr teammate starts building mg nests and sandbags in his base... well... that streak isnt looking good.

what they want if your a noob is for you to do some 1v1 randoms, learn the game. COH is too hardcore and unforgiving if you really dont know what you are doing.

yeah this annoys me on CoH, you join a 'Noobs Only' game and the host and his freinds are like 30 ranks ahead of you.

You guys can check the rank of other people in the lobby in CoH though, i just avoid the con artists who wait for a real noob who joins their 'noob only' game and the noob cant tell their rank so he starts and gets slaughtered.

It doesnt make sense to me, winning a 4 hour long RTS game like CoH online, having such a battle that when you come away from your PC you feel a bit buzzed and you actually have sweat on your body from exertion is a real game, but obliterating a lvl.1 in 10-20 minutes doesn't seem much like a game to me.

The problem is that real noobs are hard to find in a game that's been out as long as this.
