Was just pulled by the police just after a long straight and a mini round about. After i was past the round about i looked in my mirror and saw the blue lights so i pulled over. Officer came to the window and said he had been tailing me for about a 1/2 mile and that i had been doing 90 on a 60 road. Basically he gave me a verbal and a 7 day slip to hand in my insurance and MOT, he said i was lucky they didnt have the speed gun on them or it would have been a court appearance.

Shook me up a bit and damn am i lucky

me and my friend have been pulled in his chav tastic old corsa about 5-6 times in last 8-9 months for just driving around got to love being young. Since he got his 306 hes not been pulled once.

I just done the same, hammered it at 90 down a NSL after overtaking a car, just like the car behind me.

Got to my town and a 30 dropped to 30ish and the taxi which followed me carried on at 60 while it went past me, overtook near the peak of a hill where there is a raised central reservation.

Complete idiot he was.

I got let of by the police, was doing 40 in 30 on Wigan Road, I was late for work, he let me off with a verbal, shook me up and I always take it easy now, dont want to risk £60+ and putting points on my clean licence.

When i had my old Mk3 Astra GSI i used to get pulled over at least once every two weeks, mind you at the moment i work nights so i was always driving around 11pm-midnight on my way to work.

Since having my Mk4 Astra GSI ive never been pulled over once, and i drive a hell of a lot faster now than i ever did before.

Guess it just depends on the appearance of your car more than anything!

Me and a mate got pulled over when he was doing the dark side of a ton on a 40mph road a few years ago (Volvo 760 Turbo).

Caught by the fuzz with a handheld hairdrier...

We stop, he runs up to the drivers' door and starts screaming through the window. This guy was more than a bit miffed. He was screaming and gesticulating so much that he hit his hairdrier on the car door.

At this point, my mate jumps out of the car to check his door - there's a sizable scratch on it.

Cop: Do you have ANY idea you were goin?

Mate: Forty...maybe forty two miles per hour...? Can I have your badge number, please? You've damaged my car...

Cop (even angrier): WHAT?! YOU'RE HAVING A RIGHT LAUGH, SON! YOU WERE DOING *pauses to look at hairdrier*

Mate: Sorry...how fast was I going?

Cop: Nevermind. *exunt*

He'd buggered his hairdrier when he hit the car.

one of the reasons i never break the speed limit in the dark.
Yes! We've got him!!

Breaking news - TDS admits that he kills children in daylight and is therefore as bad as the rest of us. :p

Having only just got your licence back I cannot believe you did this.

OK it wasn't dangerous and I assume that driving at 90mph was not above your ability.

However, don't you value your licence?

Agreed, but what do you mean ability?

Regardless of his driving experience, 90mph in a 60 is dangerous.

Hopefully the OP will stick to future limits.

Bit of a sweeping statement to make. There are plenty of NSL roads around here with visibility good enough to make 90 perfectly safe.

Visibility is one thing. There are lots of other factors that may render travelling just under a tonne a silly thing to do.

And anyway, why do you prefer to travel at 90mph? are you rushing to get somewhere?

Wouldn't it be easier to travel on the speed limit or just slightly above, so you don't have to worry about police or cameras or having to react quickly at high speed?

There are plenty of cars designed to travel at these sort of speeds. The police angle is a risk you take whenever you drive above the limit.

Perhaps it would be easier to travel at the posted limit the whole time, but where's the fun in that?
