hi all

I'm trying to get back into pc gaming after many years on the dark side (watching ROTJ on itv, sorry) but struggling a bit with mouse and keyboard.

I'm loving the mouse to track and shoot infinitly better than a pad but I can't for the life of me get used to WASD etc. Is there any alternative - I'm thinking of something like the wii nunchuck for movement, keeping a mouse for aiming.

I'd try and stick with wasd or arrow keys, you will get used to it eventually, and end up being more effective & quicker than with your thumb on a directional pad like the nunchuck.

I've always used the arrow keys it's soo much easier, wasd is old school.

wasd is for people who like lots of keys close by. I actually first storted playing games using arrows and moved onto wasd. I have seen people using the numpad before, which might be an idea for the OP

Mice these days have so many more buttons, the lack of buttons near the directional keys isn't too much of an issue as I find the arrow keys easier to use

I just use the arrow keys and then have all the keys around them for actions (like you would around WASD)

Me too, I've tried using WASD in the past due to peoples recommendations, but its just never quite felt right or comfy. So I've always gone back to my faithful arrow key layout.

arrow keys = mega fail!

WASD for life then i tried ESDF and found it loads better (better access to even more keys)

thanks for the replies people. I've tried the arrow keys, there a little easier to get on with but for the life of me i'm struggling to use any keys effectively. This coming from gaming on c64 when you were forced to use keys most of the time as the microswitches in the joysticks failed faster than a zephyr 360.

I want to blame my ps1/2 xbox360 for this problem....

This seems ideal - have you used one? Saves me dropping 50 large on a decent keyboard that i'm going to struggle to game with anyway.
