Hi

Have just discovered a wasp nest in an air brick ventilation, took the cover off to clean the area and discovered it, got stung twice.
Managed to cover it over again.

I want to get rid of the nest as it’s in a bedroom, would a wasp spray kill the nest? I can spray a ton of it through the small gaps of the vent.
Short of that I don’t feel confident taking the vent off again.

I had one years ago in some turf rolls after I took up my lawn. I found the entrance hole that they used and then in full bike gear with helmet I went out and doused it with wasp killer powder around the entrance and then into the entry way. I followed it up with boiling water the following day.
Once they'd all died I dug it out and it was a fascinating structure that they'd built tbh all from wood scrapings.

Can you somehow seal off the space so that no air can get in or out of where the nest is

If you can then I would use a permethrin smoke bomb and leave it 24 hours

should kill the lot of them

I can get at it from both sides, I’ve sprayed some spray in from inside which got them very angry, can’t hear them now, I’m thinking about trying outside now with a ladder, it’s not too high so can make a quick exit!

If you wait until after dark they'll be much less active and you'll have a better chance of getting away unscathed.

I had a nest in my porch roof a couple of years ago which ended up being a bit of pain to deal with. I bought some powder but didn't fancy getting too close on a ladder so cut open the tub and taped it to the end of a decorators pole. Dressed in full on ninja gear I approached carefully and tried to tip the contents of the tub over the nest entry point, dropped most of it down the gutter instead, turned and ran :D

While it did no doubt kill some of them off, the rest somehow escaped through the roof cavity and into the porch itself, essentially making the front door a no go zone. I then spent the next couple of days with a pump sprayer full of soapy water to kill the rest as and when they appeared. The clean up was a bit grim :(

You can get anti wasp sprays with thin straws (think like wd40), that you can put through the gaps in the vent.

Spray at night, NOT during the day.

Sorry to jump in on the thread with my own question, but a few days back there were 4 wasps on my kitchen window net curtain. They all seemed pretty dosile and I was able to cup them and throw them outside. Two more the next day and one more the day after. I don't suppose it's enough to be a nest somewhere, I've checked around outside and don't see loads... any ideas why I would have had such an odd spate of them though?
