'How the McLaren racing team used Formula One technology to design and construct the MP4-12C road car, whose design features include a carbon-fibre safety cell and the first engine the company has ever built. The programme also reveals how the vehicle's sound was perfected in a recording studio, just like a pop song. Featuring contributions by Ron Dennis, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button'

Interesting program - not sure about the others in the series (last one was on building an Airbus A380 wing and next week is a Satellite)

Pity quite a lot of it was old information (about the factory /HQ itself) - didnt realise though that they had over 50 testng vehicles for the new car which I thought was pretty high

4th pedal was interesting , hadnt heard about that before.

I did laugh about Japanese cars sounding boring when there was a Subaru in the shot when it was said

That was great, with lots of F1 references, Jensen and Lewis appearances, and one interesting secret now banned from F1, the fourth pedal.

4th pedal? I know of the 3rd pedal for independently operating the rear brakes.

Was the 1998 season where a photographer stuck his camera down into Hakkinen's car and snapped off a load of shots which made Ron Dennis a Rabbit of negative euphoria when they were published.

Looked like it was out of an 80's car but I dont believe they said specifically (maybe early 90's with Senna)

they called it something like "break assisted stearing" in the program, with the clutch being the 3rd pedal and this being a fourth :) (before it was banned in F1)

It was the 1998 car they were talking about. Utter rubbish about the 4th pedal though. By that point they were running the full paddleshift systems so only had 2 pedals in the car as standard.

Im not sure they were, because I dont think they had a foot clutch at that point

Either way (no disrespect meant) but I will take the guy's word who actually works for the team (and was previously in the F1 team) over someone on a forum :)

I think you are actually thinking of a different "3rd" pedal during Mika / DC's time but hey ho

( I just went back and watched the relevant part - around the 30 minute mark - if it had been total voice over, you might have been right , I just cant see that McLaren guy lying to the camera has any point at all , or that it would get through McLaren's clearance to be broadcast - which given the main subject, Im sure would have happened to some level)
