I desperately wanted to like it, but I am struggling the more I think about it. The concept is fantastic, but the more I look at its bulkiness, the more I think it needs more refining.

Unless it is proven to have a 72 hours intensive use battery life then it is no go at all. Imagine going away for the weekend and it dies on Sunday afternoon just because you forgot the charger.

So don't forget your charger. Phones tend to not last as long, so you need them too.

Incorrect.

The looks are a personal preference.

There is no information about battery life because its not even a final product going to market yet.

There is also no information about what it will cost.

Partially incorrect....

That that watch is ******* ugly. To me anyway.

Battery life has not been revealed, but Apple states that it is good for "all day wear", so we suspect that means you'll need to charge it nightly (much like most other smartwatches on the market).

It starts at $349 (£216)

Having browsed the Watch section of the Apple website, I actually think the design of the watch straps are actually more interesting than the watch.

Notice how thick it is

Front the front it looks subtle but from the side it looks like the original iPhone in terms of first-gen bulk.

mmm, you are all forgetting, starting at $349 for the basic Apple Watch. Probably the smaller one too.

The Apple Watch Edition large will be at least $700

Check the promo on the website for the different types.

But it does look good, just way way too expensive.

They didn't mention any waterproofing, seems like that would be something they would mention?

Surely they wouldn't release a watch without waterproofing... would they?

I was wondering what people were moaning about initially, as it looks nice from the front, certainly nicer than other square face smart watches.

Then I saw a side shot of it and I realised. Ugh it looks bad from the side.

Did they fire all their designers? Love or hate apple you know you know with a new product its gonna look nice at least

..well until now at least

Havent they just painted this watch white

The ergonomics of using a side dial on a watch as a navigation tool has to be one of the most stupid implementations I have seen.

It has a heart rate monitor on the underside so has to be done up quite tightly for that to function. But once you have done that how are you meant to manipulate that dial with the watch on your wrist?

Awkward as hell unless you take the watch off at which point you may as well be using your phone.

Until you actually use it, all of your points are completely baseless....

I think it looks a nice piece of kit overall but I won't be rushing out to buy one.

It'll no doubt sell extremely well.

They are based on having watches that need to be adjusted with a dial.

Alternatively the watch is so fat that it raises the dial a sufficient height from your arm to be used. At which point it stops following normal watch form conventions in lieu of being some cubic wrist thing!

If you look at the images, its quite clear that the crown sits off centre, so its higher up, away from the wrist:

Thinking about it, the only trick that seems to be missing here is how it works for left handed people....?

Perhaps the orientation of the display can just be inverted and the watch strap connectors placed on the opposite ends.
