Watchmen

Watched it tonight, absolutely enjoyed it but cannot disagree with a good 90% of the negatives already posted on here, reckon it'll take a second viewing on dvd for me to really make my mind up as to whether I think it's a good film as I have a feeling I was just enjoying the spectacle tonight.

Saw this film today and while I liked it, I thought it was too long for the amount of action that goes on. At the start with the first fight (loved the way the movie is filmed and directed with the slow mo etc) I thought I was going to be in for a treat! However there is not too much more action after that :( As for the characters themselves, none of them really interested me, and how can you take a superhero who has is nob flopping about everywhere seriously?
Loved the masked character, especially when he went to prison - best part of the film! Could watch a shorter movie based all around him and him being a complete nutcase :D

Thought the random sex scene was a bit out of place - but none the less appreciated it ;)

Saw this a few Sundays ago, and loved it :D It may not make sense to the non-readers of the comic book, but that was really only to be expected as they cut hours out of it.
As a reader of the comic book I can understand why the cut some bits, I can't wait for the full version with all of it in. :)
My sister who saw it with her guy didn't understand it at all, and she didn't like it :( but I did expect that. They did make a good job of the source material, I thought.
The guy who played Rorschach, did it very well, and captured him well.

The ending; I'm of two minds about, it does make it more 'Hollywood' and ties a bow around it, I suppose, but not having it like the comic book ending doesn't explain what Bubastis is, which is a shame.

Saw this for the second time on Tuesday, and it was even better second time around :)
The Mrs really enjoyed it too, and since she hadn't read the novel this makes it a winner for me, I had been worried about how she'd take it :)

Bloomin fantastic!

lol... the innocent way you wrotethat reminded me of Quagmire when Lois is in prison:

Lois: I felt like I had a void in my life, like, like, there was a secret hole in me...
Quagmire: Oh God!
Lois:...and I was tryin' to fill that hole with all kinds of expensive objects, and things...
Quagmire: Oh God!!!
Lois: ...and I felt wonderful with all those things fillin' that hole.
Quagmire: Oh God!!!!!!
Lois: I did this to myself, so I'm just gonna have to lay back and let the penal system teach me a lesson.
Quagmire: That one is also sexual.

:D

Too. Much. Innuendo.

Having watched the graphic novel a few weeks ago, i must say that the director did a fine job with it. Think it will be my first blu-ray purchase :D

Took the mrs to see it last night. My car popped a boost hose on the way up so had to catch a late night screening and were the only people there, so that was good !

As for the film, I loved it. I expected it to be terrible, from some of the comments posted on here but it was far from it. Personally I felt there was a very good balance between action scenes and in depth scenes. The way they shot the film was outstanding, I couldn't fault it if I wanted too.

Bad points, a blue wang.

Good points, Rorscach scenes.

Very close to the comic, I loved it, saw it twice and I can't remember the last time I went twice to the cinema for the same film.

Better than any other of these hero movies out there, it doesn't get to wound up in teenage angsty relationships but twitters along a small thread of relationships.

It's not supposed to be all happy endings, save the world, get the girl, end.

It's about aging heroes, current heroes dealing with their own personal lives, the econimc situation, cold war era. It doesn't even focus on one good guy and one bad guy, you even have heroes who border both side almost.

When you compare this movie to superman/spiderman/fantastic four, hulk etc, makes them look like kids movies. Dark Knight took the right path getting even ...sorry to use the word again, "darker".

The only thing I did not like was Veidt, I can come to terms with a freak of science like Dr Manhatten but Veidt at the end had strength beyond believable amounts.

I know he has all sorts of training since he was 17 by monks etc but still, rorschach managed to take out some pretty formidable foes, Night Owl and Silk Spectre also had a decent couple of fights scenes with a gang and prison cell criminals.

But when all faced with Ozymandias they were like spastic children fighting a Male Lion.
I haven't been able to see any information about genetic engineering himself, he did tinker with it on Bubastis his pet so he could have himself but I'm pretty sure it did not mention this in the comics.

Also on his computer on the expenditure page in the film there was payment for "Abilities".

But he picked up a 6ft guy like he was a wooden chair, jumped who knows how high in his Arctic Base, flung people around like they were paper weights.... it ruined the immersion for me.
