Could someone please give me a approx water bill from my meter.
I am with Severn Trent Water and had a meter installed last July and will be paying one bill for the yearly water usage.
I have trawled their web site and rang numerous numbers but can't get through to anyone (the web site is even worse than BT and EE).
I have used to date 55 units so water and other charges.
The reason i went water meter was the £600 bill for this year - so anything below £500 come July I will be happy but happier still if it's way less.

My old brain can't seem to get a grip on this anymore.

The numbers on the meter should be cubic meters of water used. It at least mine is (different water company).
The last few numbers are likely fractions of a cubic meter.
So you just need to find out what you pay per cubic meter, plus standing charges for sewerage /drainage whatever.

if someone on benefits lives with you get them to apply for the social rates and lie about household income if you need to.

Just ask yourself "would would my local mp do?" the answer reduce their living costs by as much as possibvle a t the tax payers expensse.

Next door pay less than £200 a year but they have a hot water tank above the kitchen where we have a combi in garage so we have to run two bowles of water through before we get hot water.
In the summer we tip bowl of clean water into buckets outside and fill water butt's up so not really lost.
so at £5.50 that put's us on £275 before costs so could be just over £300 which is way less than £600.

we just had a new smart water meter fitted. it does hourly reading and I have to say whilst we don't use much gas, and we now offset almost all of our electricity with solar and battery but our water use is horrendous.

we use almost 400l a day and with prices going up our last 1/4ly bill was £192.

my wife and son need to stop spending so long in the shower! also we have a water softener which I think uses a bit.

That's not that high... average use per person is ~142l per day so if there's 3 of you that's about right.

We just got charged £120 for two people, for example, for 22m3/165l per day but we're not at home a lot/use a dishwasher/etc.

Wear stillsuits. Water bill go down.
Also useful in London as you suddenly get very good at knife fighting.

How do you all use so little. Everytime I do the calculator or even talk to United Utilities they say im better without a meter and that's £840 this year.

I still wash the car twice a month, water the garden pots as necessary, take daily showers, drink plenty. We only have one bathroom, there are only two of us and we don't flush the yellow every time.

Annual metered cost <£500.

Edit, no dishwasher but the washing machine gets plenty of use.

anyone remember the advert back in the day.

if it's yellow let it mellow
if it's brown flush it down

I still live by that probably 35 years on (total guess on time)

I want some rain !!!! -Just added another water butt to the collection -Now got 9 placed around the garden and it hasn't rained enough this year to fill them.
I have set up a garden Trug with a tap on so can fill it with rain water - plug pressure washer to it and pressure wash the car.

Just added some units to what it's showing now and mulitplied it by £5 50p and came up with £370 for the year.
If that is correct then I am OK as the yearly payment method had gone up to £600. The wife can then use the hose pipe occasionally when needed.
I might get a plumber in to drop a chrome 15mm pipe down kitchen wall and bypass a load of pipe in loft. It does a big loop that was done to have no pipes on wall.

I now have sympathy for people who have to scrounge for water. We take it so much for granted and it used to be cheap. Does that mean there is a load of backhanders flying around in the board rooms.
