Water cooling (first time loop) bad temps

Ohhhh the shame of it!! I actually realised what I'd done not long after posting when I went out for the day.... what a spacker.

Right, well it's finally built now. GPU's are running under maximum load at 30C. Idling at about 28C.... :) Wow.

CPU temps are not really better than air at this moment in time. Is this to be expected? Anyway guys, thanks for all your help you have been so helpful.

First time water cooler so was a bit of a learning curve for me. So, what do you peeps actually think of the final build? It pretty much looks the same as the second lot of pics I posted without the obvious **** up. :S

Sounds like a bad mount. Check the backplate and make sure it's lying flat and not touching anything.

Then I'd try moving the case about, making sure you've bled out all the air.

If it's still bad after that you'll maybe want to reseat the block and make sure you have removed the plastic sticker as mentioned above :)

Well, I've sorted out my CPU temperature issue as well. Nothing to do with the water cooling loop. I reset my bios recently and some of the CPU voltage settings were set to auto.... basically I was running 1.33v through my cpu at 4.5ghz.

Set it back down to 'normal' and the volts under full load are 1.188 @ 4.5ghz. Currently just prime testing to ensure everything is stable. Should be as it was before...

I'm going to get some nice photo's together after I install a bit of mood lighting :) and post in a new thread. I'd be keen to hear what you guys think. Thanks all! :D

Aye figured as much, seen it on a few threads people leaving their voltage on auto and not checking what it hitting under load. Glad ya got it all sorted. :)

well my new (10-15days old) loop with a 4ghz i7 930 at v1.36 and 1xHD7970 is also having average CPU temp performance tbh...

I get 45-50c idle temps and 60-65c load while the GPU is at 35-37c idle 43-44c load (though its around 23-24c in the room). Im using two SR1 rads from HWlabs, one is 120 the other 280. Also using a D5 X-res combo with the pump at 3500rpm...

When I had the Corsair H100 and air cooled GPU the idle temps were lower by approx 5c but the load temps when much higher.

Have you tried lowering the CPU voltage a bit high for 4.0, what Bios CPU multi are you using? try 21x.

My 920:4.2ghz - I get 28-32'c idle temps and 54-58'cc load while the GPU6970:950/1350 is at 29'c idle - 47'c load see sig.

Spooks that looks a nice tidy build there and glad you have your problems all sorted now? I have just finished upgrading my watercooled system and was dreading I might make mistakes like you as it can easily be done.

If temps are still a little high maybe a bigger radiator somewhere might help. Which might not obviously be possible within that case?

Thx for the advice but it won't go lower than 1.36v to be stable with HT. I i'm using 200x20 to have 1600mhz ram because the ram multiplier is only stable at 8x...
I could try 21x to see if i can reach 4.2ghz since i've just left it there but i'm going to get haswell in 3-4 months so i won't bother.

Anyway the temps I reported above was from this hot sunny afternoon. Now at 21:30 and a much cooler temperature in the house the PC is idling at 41c hottest core, 34c coolest core and 31c GPU... Also I just have SR1 120 and an SR1 280 for this loop with a D5 running at setting ~3,5 . I'm wondering if increasing the pump would lower temps since I've left it these as it's totally silent

EDIT: I'd actually like to thank you, as you convinced me to go back to my bios settings and easily manage 4.2ghz with v1.344 - both higher clock with lower voltage. :)

Glad you got your temps sorted Spooks, I'm planning a similar loop myself, just with Monsta's so this thread has taught me a valuable lesson in advance of possible making the same mistake! :)
