Water Cooling Section.

Little point in having a WC forum unless OCUK can decide whether they will hold a proper range of WC stock, rather than the odd radiator, barb and random pieces of tubing. If we can't link to WC gear then threads will be severely hamstrung. I've heard these promises many times before.

Doesnt mean we couldnt help people out with rig suggestions and other queries on water cooling and it would be easy to find info if it was all in its own section.

Yeah I see what your saying, but tbh if the forum gets going, maybe OCUK wll have more demand for watercooling parts and will order some in.

Tbh, it's not about whether or not there is enough watercooling parts in the shop.
Most of the threads will be asking advice from other, about loop, coolant, blocks etc. Probably build logs like the Case Central forum!

Yeah of course you're right, and thats what currently happens in the o'clocking/cooling section, but its all very basic level help and is held back by an inability to link to hardware.

I'm not saying its only about WC parts, but OCUK's somewhat piecemeal effort at stocking a decent line in parts is a significant factor in stopping the OCUK WC community from flourishing imo. OCUK already know there is a high interest and demand for WC parts, its been there for ages. Water cooling has massively gained in popularity, even in the four years I've been doing it, and the innovation and quality of hardware now being produced by manufacturers such as Bitspower and Koolance shows this.

OCUK's range has went down.
It's good for the odd thing due to free delivery.
But at the moment it's.. Urgh.

Yeah, I've been searching for little bits and bobs from the clearance lines. picked myself up a barb I needed. Excellent free delivery. I would have bought all my watercooling stuff from there £400+ it does seem silly not to provide it with this big a customer base.

Hopefully just the opening of a forum section, and maybe when they see it fill and flourish they will finally think about stock more!

Well it might just coax OcUK to stock up on H20 components the more they see people asking and showing of their new builds, in the Water Cooling Section when its set up. l'm getting some new components for my birthday, l'm using non branded compression fittings and they are spot on, l'd rather shop with OcUK for my H2o components.

As their service and tech support has always been 1st class, when l have delt with them.

I'm waiting for my parts to be delivered... such an impatient wait, lol.

I've got some EK compression fittings, they are beautiful. Solid, heavy and lovely in black :) Bit thick chunks of metal... :p

I'm so annoyed I couldn't buy my watercooling parts from overclockers, I've probably paid £20+ for all the postage on various orders. and the delivery speed is 3-5 days.........

The barb I bought from overclockers was ordered last thursday night. dispatched friday, received saturday morning! amazing!

Not being able to link to hardware is only hurting one company OC. If they dont stock it then some competitor will take the order with pleaseure. If you cant link to an item google or bing will. OCUK isnt holding water cooling back OCUK is only holding there own sales of wc gear back.

There free postage offer is a bonus but some wc compays do not charge huge postage markups for there smaller item sales.

Maybe I didn't make my point clearly enough.

I'm not saying that OCUK is holding back water cooling as an industry or as a hobby, WC is doing just fine without OCUK. I'm saying that OCUK's amateurish efforts at holding WC stock is holding back the development of a potentially flourishing WC enthusiasts forum on here because I/we can't link to WC hardware due to the competitor rule. If they held stock then an OCUK WC forum could reach its full potential.

The Graphics forum is a case in point: Yes, its dominated by a few overly opinionated morons but its still popular because OCUK also stock the items people want to discuss and buy.

Another vote from me. Would also be good if we could work on some updated stickies covering all of the normal questions and also some of the stuff people don't know such as how to match a fan to a rad, flow rate and restrictive blocks vs non restrictive blocks etc etc.

You can't really compare Watercooling to Graphics Cards though, given the amount of SKU's OCUK would have to source to give us anything like the range other specialist competitors have. They have obviously made a strategic decision to not invest in this area, either that or their initial 'toe in the water' approach did not warrant investing in further stock because of poor sales.

+1 - yes, this would help everyone, also what case takes what, like my FTO1 - dead easy to mount Rad on rear of case have a look just used one home made shroud + fan with 4 socket head bolts solid as a rock.

I was only making the most general of comparisons. Agree with your other points, but they have hinted on more than one occasion of their intention to reinvest in the WC section since the Yewen debacle.

Might not have been around for that - l looked at a few sites when l was looking for my components and quiet afew just stock the stuff that sells and don't really specialise, If things went well they could slowly specialise in components.

+2 to a watercooling forum.

Yes most will argue about H50's being w/c but the amount of threads alone questioning this or that about them, should warrant a w/c section.

It would also assist with sales of more w/c gear for OCUk

I seem to remember in one the of OCUK staff build projects one of the dons openly saying where he'd got his WC stuff from and when I questioned if this was wise given that he was a don it was pretty much laughed off and left unedited.

I know nothing of running a retail business, but from my experience with dealing with specialist water cooling gear suppliers you do get a certain vibe from them, like its a personal joy for them to be selling you water cooling specific stuff. Its almost as though you have to have this enthusiastic mentality to be able to make a goer of a water cooling business specifically, like you have to be fully into it yourself.

I also think that water cooling is peculiar in that you need to have full knowledge of the kit yourself and not just stack it in boxes in a warehouse for some forklift truck to pick up when reading off a printout of an order. I take tube/hose as an example of this, OCUK current practice is to supply it in easy to stack/bar code 1m lengths. Whereas most water cooling specialists would give you a continuous 10m length if you asked for it. Its up to OCUK how they go about selling water cooling gear but they must surely know this is how it comes across, and if they didn't they do now.
