Water Cooling Section.

Any WC products would have issues attached to them, namely if a leak destroyed an entire system - who is to blame and who picks up the pieces?

Corsair H50/70 have the same predicament, but being a sealed system offer more security to the e-tailer. Saying that though, I wouldn't like to test how long it takes to get that refund for a system - and who is to say what the value of that system is if it breaks a year or so later when the system is out of production?

OCUK already do custom build WC rigs with in-house warranty. They've offered them for some time I believe.

Anyway its pretty much universally accepted that WC is done at your own risk in terms of buying separates and doing it yourself - hence why some advocate leak testing before installing the components.

Some? I think most people would INSIST of a leak test, of at least 24 hours. It's pretty important :)

I'm all for a watercooling section and would really like to see OcUk get some more watercooling stock in.

As for the H50 and H70 argument, most of the questions would be comparisons to air coolers so not really valid in a watercooling section, the only relevant conversation I can see is that of push pull rad combos and rad placement etc, which would be perfectly valid watercooling talk. So I wouldn't see the point of restricting this type of question. Although the "should I go watercooling H50?" would get quite tiresome as it's basically the same as asking which air cooler should I use.

I'm not sure I understand your point. All I'm saying is that OCUK have offered warrantied custom water cooled rigs in the past and they probably still do...at the right price.

How long they leak test their systems for I have no idea and I'm not really sure that its that relevant anyway. Out of interest why do you suggest 24 hours? Why not 23? Or perhaps 26 hours..? Would it make a difference? :p

Edit/ sorry I'm a bit slow tonight, I see your point now. TBH I can tell within a few minutes whether my loop is gonna leak or not. You just get a feel for it after doing it a while. In fact I cant remember when I last leak tested a build.

It's like Prime95. It won't guarantee your system stable after 24 hours, but unless you leave it running forever it's your best bet :)

Christ I'd love to know what the debate consists of. I'd wager its related to the fact that they don't stock any water cooling parts. People would use the forum for discussion then go to competitors that hold both WC stock and, more importantly, other components that OCUK do sell. Potentially a dedicated WC section is a revenue loser as its a market OCUK can't compete in until they start holding stock.

Surely not?!

I would love to see a watercooling subsection in here but IMO it goes hand in hand with OcUK selling more water cooling gear. If they don't then as said above it does seem pointless as it will just make people go to competitors.

Possibly true but in the same respect could bring in more business because of people searching for advice, as this is such a thriving forum with so many members they may take a recommendation to buy other hardware from here even if it's not watercooling gear.

But yeah +1 for OCUK getting more WC stock in, Id be well up for that

If you take that argument why are their Hi-Fi / Games sections? Discussions about Cooling and Overclocking are two very different things IMO, so it would make sense to separate these topics out.

The reason I say that is because overclockers core business is selling computer components, watercooling is used with those components just the same as all the bits they sell for air cooling. Whereas hifi and games are different markets but are still can be related to computers and therefore have their place on the forum. Maybe the dons see it differently but this is how I see it and why I said what I did in my previous post.

Also +1 on the update - pretty please with a smilie on top :D

Well my opinion is that watercooling could be considered a separate market given that there are separate companies which specialise in this area. COmpare this to say Graphics cards and you typically don't find companies that just sell graphics cards.

I think this is why OCUK have only stocked a few SKU's because there are entire companies that are dedicated to selling everything that you could possibly need to watercool a PC.
