Watercool Mora IV announced

Priced up a 200 to see what the damage is.

Yeah... wow. I still need a pump and fans. Pump i can reuse but fans will have to be bought separately which are an additional £35 each!
Don't buy their noctua HS fans. They go 520-1200 rpm, which is not silent to utterly pointless.
The standard noctua 200s are about 380-800rpm which is a lot more sensible.

yeah, I have costed it again and for the 400 mora and fans, pumps etc is about 1000 euro
That's a good chunk. I'm running my 420 off a single d5 pump/res in the case. Using their 150 pwm cable plus their 150 male to male pwm cable to run the fans.
Be interesting to see the price of the alphacool 1260 as it's being sold as a single unit.

Yeah i would go for the quieter ones for sure, makes more sense.

the alphacool 1260 is 200 Euro for just the radiator

Yup, the apex vpp they're using is 65 then add 4 x 200 fans, a res, the housing and the display and electrics and I'm guessing it's going to be north of 500.
The only advantage they had was it was a self contained unit.
It's not due until early 2025 either.

This for sure. You save 5 quid per fan but the min rpm of 500rpm is not what some people would call silent enough for 24/7

That control board is the only interest for me possibly. I have a nexxxos 1080mm radiator and it's perfectly fine. I cant foresee me ever needing more than that even if I added and extra pc to the thing. Some good daisy claimable fans are a must for any of these external radiators imo. I bought them arctic ones that are 5 for 30 quid or something.

If I gain more interest in my.pc in the next few years I could think about getting one of these just for the ease of that control board.

Bit the bullet last black friday and finally picked up a Mo-Ra3 420, it has been great, I was definitely saturating my old radiators, but it would be typical that the IV got announced relatively soon after my purchase!

Not overly fussed on the rbg element but the control panel a nice addition and the side panel/fan frame not needing screws also a nice improvement

I think this is something to try when I next upgrade if I want to mess about with a SFF PC with the option of adding a big external Rad.

It's a pretty cool thing, (no pun intended) but jeez that's steep.

Don't forget import duty, etc! Wonder how much that'll be?
My understanding it should be 20% VAT + customs fee upto 12% collected by carrier but it seems to be non-multiplicative and closer to 21% total in my experience.

Did he hang that on the wall with bog standard rawl plugs?
Given the cost of that
And what it will weigh when filled up
Damn sure I would be using some heavy duty fittings
Or finding studs if not a brick wall
And mount some battens to the studs to attach it to
Though I would rather have it on the window sill personally
Since even in winter I have the windows open in pc room

I'm surprised too, almost as surprised as he was when his drill bit went through the wall made of cheese :D.

I think it's a bit strange putting it on a wall with all the air blowing against it, not ideal at all. Spent £1.5k on cooling stuff to nerf it at the last stage (was nerfed already by going Corsair iCue, but that's another story!).

Yeah guess he doesn't do much diy
Sds drill on hammer lol
Just tap the wall with your knuckles to see
How solid it is first
Usually I push in the thinnest precision screwdriver I have first
To get an idea what you will be drilling into

And yeah also wondered about it smothering the airflow
Can see the bracket has a small offset
But it's still pretty close to the wall

I do zero DIY so good info - but even I reckon that looks like an accident waiting when the drill went from 0 to oops.
