watercooling my cpu shop list included

A shroud is something that spaces the fan away from the radiator. This is good for performance, and helps a bit with noise. Generally old 120mm fans are used, once you take the hub and spokes out. Alternatively you can make them out of sheet metal, or buy the very expensive tfc shrouds which do the same thing but glow pretty colours.

You screw the old, hubless fan onto the radiator, then screw your shiney new fan onto the shroud. Does good things for performance, definitely worth doing if you can find the space

Oh, and you're quite right. You do have uv blue coolant. I'm not so good with lighting computer cases :)
 
Nah, the gain isn't worth the tenner or so for the tfc shrouds. Just use the fans mounted straight onto it, or pick up some broken fans from mm. I got five for the price of one of the feser ones from Samsung.

Though blue led lit shrouds might go rather well with the tubing. Btw, the xspc reservoir and the ek clear block are both designed to be lit with leds

one last thing regarding the tubing coolant and my lighting you said above that i have clear coolant and as you know im lighting it up for show is this area all ok if not let me know what need changing
 
The coolant in that list appears clear, untill you turn on UV lighting, those cathode lights, can be turned on and off.

On word of advice i would give, is make sure that you have mesh fan covers on all you intake fans, as when you have UV lighting on it can attract little flies and stuff, not a huge problem, but one to be aware of.

The area of UV, coloured coolant and all that kinda stuff is all personal taste really, some hate it some love it..

Once installed it can be turned on and off as to when u want it lit up.

There is infact 2 ways you could make it glow UV style...

Option 1:
100% Clear coolant but with solid coloured Tubes, that are UV reactive, but then you lose being able to see the coolant flowing.

Option 2:
As stated before clear coolant that when A uv light is on, glows blue.. and clear tubing so that it can be seen.

Either way will work and will cost the same, it all depends on if you actully want to be able to see the coolant flowing or not, most do so they can check for air bubbles.

About the shrouds, yes in an ideal world they are brilliant, but jon said its far cheaper to use old fans and take there hubs out, but untill you can sort that, just attaching the normal fans to the radiator is fine, using shrouds allso depends on if u have the space to do so, especially if u are doind your water setup 100% inside your case, basicly don't worry to much about this at the moment.

LOL no need to thank me btw, im no expert at all this, but was in ur shoes abit ago when i first watercooled my computer, so i know how nerve racking it can be.. just take your time when setting it all up..

ok cheers for the info and regarding the shrouds will it all fit inside the haf932 case tho for the sake of 20 quid i might,and one last tiny question i was under the impression that if you water cool cpu and a gpu dont you need two rads or is the a way of doing it with one can you explain if possiable

A triple radiator should be fine for both cooling the cpu and gpu.

In an ideal situation you would probably want the triple rad going into the cpu block, then the cpu going to say a single/double rad then into the gpu block, and then on to pump/res, then stating the loop again.

But the triple radiator will be able to cope with cooling both so don't worry, just having another source for the gpu would make overall temps a lot better thats all.

Again its kinda like swings and roundabouts, some like to get everything as cool as possible, others like neater loops and take the slight increase in overall temps.

Your choice so far is more then capable off cooling your stuff, just in the back of your mind you know u can get more performance at a later date if needed.
 
Well im no expert, but id be more then happy to go with that setup, especially knowing down the line if you so need to you can add another radiator.

Might be best to wait a few days to see if anyone else replies, but im more then sure they will just say the same.
 
ok mate i understand your more clued up than me,im ok building stuff if the gear is picked for me lol,i anit gonna order just yet as most stuff is still out of stock

come on ocuk we want our water cooling gear lol i dont wanna go else where now hehehe
 
lol yeh im waiting on a few things getting in stock myself, so i can set up my new water stuff to in my new case, and id rather get from here as they are selling what im after cheaper then other places lol.

Oh yeh one last thing, be carefull screwing the stuff to the radiators, everyones gonna laugh at this now but ahwell lol..

When i did my first ever watercooling i accidently used the wrong screws, i was like oh cool this will go through the fan and the rad onto my case, little did i realise that i was'nt supposed to screw right through, lets just say i was a little to eager haha, so i had to replace that rad, but learnt my lesson, take time, double check. And learn from others mistakes like me haha.

if i was to add another rad would this give me better temps if so which one would be good and would i have to put this on the outside rear?

also i read that certain gfx cards are not suited to water cooling is mine ok to do?

if i add a 2nd rad will i need to do another run pump/res tubing ect if so what will i need and if poss can you do me a shopping basket cheers

finally got my shopping list up here what we got,anything missing and if so please add links or redo my cart really want to order soon and want to make sure all is well,would it be better to have a 2nd rad setup for the gpu or not just need these few questions above answering and hopefully good to go,will i need thermal paste pads ect if so which ones.cheers



not sure about the fans tho i heard these are a bit loud? any ideas
 
EK barbs suck. Get some 7/16" tubing over 1/2" barbs with a actual barb and not the EK's crappy ribs. If you have room in your case then a quad rad may be alittle better but rest dont look far off. Your CPU block will come with all the pads you need. Im going to be running a 920 and 285 from a single Pa120.3 but im running fans on both sides of the rad to hopefully keep temps decent.

You will need 2 of these for your rad as the thread is different.

I cant link you to any competitor but i can to the manufactures website so you can then have a google around in the UK for something similar. As you can see there's a actual barb that cuts into the tubing every so slightly to form a really really tight seal. Iv had tubing pop off EK barbs in the past.
