Ways to avoid jetlag on 9 hour flight?

Never really struggle myself. Pick flight times, that mean you arrive at night and don't sleep on the flight (or little) and go straight to bed.

Or sleep on plane if arriving before bed time.

Are you flying West or East?
Flying West is easier as you just have to stay awake longer :p

Not eating helps apparently. Or rather, not having dinner at 11pm on a night flight.

I almost always eat, but once chose not to eat the evening meal on an overnight flight from Hawaii to Vancouver and I woke fresh as a daisy.

Avoiding alcohol probably helps as well!

When we went Cuba the flight was about 16 hours in total due to going via Paris. That was bad...we actually arrived at night time in Cuba but we were destroyed by this point. Just potentially consider your first day or two ruined.

Personally...I just sleep on the plane, even a few hours helps, then stick to local time as much as possible so if you land in the morning, don't go for a nap but stay up until night.

If you land at night, go straight to bed and set alarm to wake up at a reasonable hour.

Party all night the day before and sleep for two days post flight.
Erm wait that does not really solve the problem does it.

Arrive hungover at the airport and then you will feel so terrible when you land that you will be unable to tell whether it's jetlag or not.
