WBAC Values

I'll let you know on Tuesday. Sold my Formentor through motorway the other day.
The buyer was a group buyer for a car group and a verified dealer.
They contacted me after the end of the auction and sent all the paperwork regarding the sale, collection etc, it was all very transparent.
I even had paperwork which told the group buyer what the max buy price for my vehicle is and what they would sell it at on their forecourt.
The vehicle is being collected Tuesday, the driver will do an inspection, I'll let you know what this involves
Thank you!
I've just sold my 2024 Ibiza through car wow, just waiting for them to sort collection. Other than a scratched alloy from a tyre change that was listed it's spotless so we'll see if they try and pull anything come collection time.
They always do, the cheaper the price, the more profit for them, right? :p
For me was flawless with CarWOW but my car was indemand! All I had to do was take some pics send to their app make my own listing it sold fast! No hassle at all. I drove my car to the buyer (independent family run dealership) to save them the hassle of coming into London (or backing out of the deal!). So easy start to finish got the funds within 2 mins of meeting the son of the dealership owner (he handled all that side of things). They took me on face value did not even bother looking over my car much. I pointed out a few stone chips they were not concerned said most cars have those was not an issue to them at all. (but it was only 6 months old from brand new so had a full manufacturers warranty remaining for 2.5 years).

They trusted me the car was what I said it was & I trusted them to pay me on the spot! They then managed to sell it about a month later for £8-9K more than I got but not a problem to me as selling any car over £50K is mega hassle as many people do not have the means to send the funds to you from their bank accounts above a certain value!

If you have a decent high value in demand car I think its a pretty good way to sell it. If you have something less in demand & cheaper they are all the same you will get someone come try to knock you down see how desperate you are to sell!
What car was it?

Lotus Emira i4 4 months old when I bought it 2 months later sold it just too uncomfortable, too heavy. Looks fantastic just did not have the driving dynamics to match the good looks...now Lotus have listened to me & others made suspension adjustments to the MY2025 model Emira (adding 2 more suspension pieces either side I think at the front to soften the ride harshness a little plus 400 bhp so its faster). Now they want £100-115K for it LOL so used ones are bargains as its not a £100+K car never will be!

Those of you who have recently sold or tried to sell your car through these platforms, what is the process like? When they come to view the car apart from a visual inspection, do they perform any other checks, such as measuring paint thickness, scanning for fault codes, or checking for oil leaks in the engine bay? Do they take the car for an extensive test drive, or just a quick spin around the block (if at all)? And do they confirm the service history that's on the onboard car computer? This thread is great, but I feel like the posts are a bit too vague, would be good to get a bit more info about their process.
I think it depends on who the final purchaser is. In my case they employed an apparent 3rd party company to inspect
They did a seemingly thorough visual inspection running their fingers over every inch of the bodywork. They also spent a while looking in the engine bay, checking the oil, plugged in a fault reader, looked at the inside of both radiator and oil caps, seemed to be aware of common fluid leak issues with the car model and inspected for all of them. He popped off the plastic engine cover to get a better look. He took it for a spin around the block with me in the passenger seat, and he floored it a few times, but we never got above 35mph. Was very interested in tyre condition and alloys, but they’d been previously declared by me

They looked over the service history in a very cursory way, but that was because they were just confirming in the flesh that it matched what I’d previously loaded to the Carwow site

They wanted a photo of me holding my driving licence by the side of my head. Again, they already had a photo of my licence from Carwow

I think Lotus has lost its way, their business decisions are questionable...

Thanks, I suppose they used one of those services that AA offers? Interesting to hear he was so thorough.

Lotus aftersales support is appalling! That alone would put me off buying anything from them ever again! UNLESS you had a factory order from them your back of queue & they upset pretty much every Lotus dealer in the UK a while ago with some of their business practices (dumping loads of faulty Emira £30K below RRP for one in the UK!). Even if you did buy direct from them or a main dealer long waits for basic parts, questionable support....the bubbling paint issues are still not fixed....apparently the body panels are circa 2023 as is most of the UK stock except new factory orders hence why the basic QA issues remain to this day.

Mine was picked up this afternoon
I sold via motorway

The driver had a look over the bodywork , checked the alloys and tyres. Made sure all the paperwork was correct and the money was in my bank within 10mins. Highly recommend Motorway, the seller process was straightforward, honest and all done and dusted within 4 days

Before I handed over the keys I was emailed a self-billing invoice by the buyer. To me this signaled the agreed price, end of
I checked that the invoice was in the name of the company that was buying it, and then released the keys

The funds showed in my account within an hour, although as it was a Saturday, they were showing as uncleared until Monday. Whether they could have clawed them back before Monday, I don’t know, but it seemed unlikely

Guy has just left with my car.

Really nice guy, got the train over from Birmingham, went around the car took all the pictures carwow specify, no trying to spot any little tiny imperfections, called the dealer said it was all good and they confirmed my finance had been paid off.

20 minutes start to finish.

Just had a look they've got it up on their site now for £17,999. Not a massive profit it in considering they paid me £16,600 and paid a third party to collect. Plus I'm sure carwow took some fees somewhere along the line.

Some cars are quick flips, I would imagine that the Ibiza isn't hard to sell, just like any other smaller hatchback. How much did you pay for it, and how long ago?

PCP invoice was £25k IIRC brand new in march 24 and it's now got 16k miles on it. They basically cleared what I had left on finance.

Has anyone used Autotrader Auctions? I started drafting an advert for the BMW, and noticed it gave me an option to put it via auction for car dealers to bid.

Sold the Old Bimmer via CarWow, got more than any trader has offered, guy is coming to collect it later today. Seems fairly hassle free so far, we'll see if he tries to haggle me down.

Edit: Young bloke arrived by train, picked him up, he drove it back to my place, looked over it, phoned the dealer said everything checks out, got a transfer in 15 mins. He drove off.

I get it now, the £800-1k more I could have got selling privately sometimes isn't worth the hassle..
