I tried a few local car dealers and got another £1k higher than the WBAC value.

Most dealers are reluctant to buy stock unless it's part of a PX deal. Has that changed with the recent demand?

It could be, but it could also be that they know they have lots of part ex cars coming in due to the new reg cards out in September, after all some people actually think that is still relevant.

Just for a laugh I put my 428i GC in last night. Bought at £17,750 from a dealer only on Friday. They offered me £18k!

TTRS worth £3k more than I paid over a year ago for it.

It was a local independent but the right sort of car for them ie full main dealer history, no bodywork issues etc. We have quite a few good independent dealers round here and only 1 wasn't interested but they tend to specialise in the very low mileage cars.

When selling my Golf MK7 a VW/Audi garage phoned me and took it away, easiest sale I've had.

I think that's not always true. Dealers will buy stock if they need it and it's the right sort of car.

Its the first time I've seen signs like "cars for cash" outside local indi garages. One just down the road from me had no stock at all at one point during lockdown. They were desperate.

WBAC offered me £26500 for my Suzuki Jimny with 12k on the clock, which is nice as it only cost me £20k brand new 2.5y ago

lol and dealers aren't? They'll do anything to get your custom I guess.

Still worth checking with a dealer if you are selling. Vauxhall paid us £500 more than WBAC this week. Straight sale with money in the bank on handover. Easiest sale ever.
