WBAC Values

I would be very interested in the answer to this myself, as I will be looking at carwow and Motorway values once my car is a full MOT next week. WBAC seems reasonable and then increased a week or so later. A friend used Carwow and highly recommended them to me.
I recently sold my M235i through motorway, the agreed price was £2k more than WBAC and the car out to bids from dealers at that agreed price. This price was achieved by a dealer, he came to collect the car and there was no 'bartering' over the price, the car was in showroom condition anyway.
I found the whole experience positive and seamless.

I sold a Polo GTI through Motorway, it actually achieved a couple of hundred over the valuation (Which was already £2-3k more than WBAC, Cazoo etc.

Bloke turned up when he said he would, basically filled out the photo application his end confirming everything is as described, something to note he also had to check oil level confirming it was below Maximum but above Minimum.

Once he was happy he made the call to get me paid, so a couple of minutes refreshing my bank account before he was given keys to drive away (His recommendation also)

Very painless and would definitely use them again.

I sold my 2010 Honda Insight to WBAC. It had a rust hole in the rear passenger sill but still some MOT time left. Basically was going to fail without about £600 worth of welding etc.

A 'proper' job for replacing the rusty panels would have been a couple of grand at least.

Pristine, WBAC would have offered £2200. Got just over a grand from them. In the circumstances, that seemed OK to me. A 6'5" teenage son was necessitating a car change, so it was time.

A private sale in great condition may have brought £3k in, but I think that ship had sailed. It's the first car I've ever felt a bit sad getting rid of though.

If there had been nothing wrong with it, I'd have rather sold privately, or maybe kept as a 2nd car. Electrically and mechanically it had been brilliant. With something that would be an MOT fail without repair, I guess I felt better about selling to WBAC than privately.
Well, it's turned up on Autotrader being sold by a small garage / trader for a little under 3 grand with a brand new MOT a couple of weeks later. It appears that the rust has been dealt with (welding and painting I imagine, rather than panel replacement), plus other minor bits of cosmetic damage (minor dents and a cracked driver wing mirror housing) have been sorted out.

In some ways it would have been nice to sort it out to this standard myself, but on balance I'm still satisfied with how hassle-free WBAC was. It also looks a lot cleaner than last time I saw it. I reckon I'd have had to spend about £1k getting the car back to the standard in the pictures. But to be quite frank, I think I'd have taken that hit and kept the car if it wasn't for a rapidly growing family that no longer fit in the back.

Put it up on Motorway for tonight's auction lets see how it gets on tomorrow!

Their app is very picky RE: the photos & angles you have to take that means a few retakes until they are happy but pretty seamless so far..... lets see if it gets anywhere near their estimate (I doubt it somehow I expect £2-£3K less realistically) 3.30 pm tomorrow the auction ends I get my quotes (some dealers who took the absolute mick & lowballed me I will not deal with regardless as do not wish to give them the business - good job its anonymous until you accept the quote!).

My i30 has been going up and down a fair bit. It’s swung down 1k and then up 500 and now we’re down 750. This is from a highest value of 9k - so seems significant.

I’m going to be listing it on Motorway this weekend hopefully.

My F type has shot up £3k over last month. Shame I didnt take the risk to buy it properly and flip it but hindsight is wonderful thing. A colleague's Discovery is up £5k too.

Motorway was a reasonable experience overall. Got £2K more than main dealers would offer...still £5K from their initial estimate but I accepted as want rid of the car will not be driving it much in the near future...

Uploaded all my documents yesterday after accepting the auction bid now waiting for the funds then them to come collect etc etc

Not letting it go without full cleared funds either you cannot buy a new car can you without paying so the same applies to if you want to collect it from me! Some dealers try it on say it takes a few days...alright come back in a few days then mate

Motorway- well not so sure anymore at all!

Deal fell apart earlier dealer winning the auction then contacted me to say could not get the funds so waste of everyone's time! Then the number of times I had to call Motorway.......most of their staff are very hard to understand due to english not being their native language ......... its really irritating having to ask them to repeat things until its clear what they are actually saying...then they also made a fundamental mistake in giving me initially the WRONG winning bidders details  its the small things really make all the difference

Apart from that :p

Sounds like a one man band, not a dealer. Perhaps Motorway have become less caring about who they let bid on their platform. Hope you get it sorted soon :)

Their vetting procedure is a joke they do not check to see if they have the funds before submitting a winning bid waste of everyone's time including Motorway as they only get paid if the bid goes all the way through ! Motorway said they just check how long the company has been in business as a motorcar trader and that's it LOL! That's the extent of their vetting procedure they do not check directorships to see if any have previously been banned or struck off due to illegal financial business activity.

Their service probably works for low value cars but not so much for higher value cars.

Used car wow recently for selling a car and the process was really good. Got about £1200 more than a garage was offering and maybe about £800 than I could have gotten private.

I got the impression dealers are struggling to find decent second and stock so if you have a saleable car you should do ok.

Mine is all done and dusted photo wise today but not up for auction yet on Motorway. They are promising a good figure that I’m amazed if it is achieved.

Will update when it sells and let you know how it goes

Yep I would not bother mate you will not get anywhere near the estimated price mine was about £5K short! Then they do not properly vet the dealers they explained the process to me yesterday its a joke. Just basic checks see how long they have been in business selling used cars LOL No checks on the people who own the business to see if any are or were struck off as directors! No basic checks to see if they can even afford the car when they win the bid!

Its free to use to sell I can see why its nothing more than a put you in touch with a few thousands dealers service you also have to upload so much documentation BEFORE they will list the car for auction...yet if it fails to sell they still have all those details on file......! I am asking for all of mine to be deleted.

Then they are so disorganised gave me the WRONG winning bidders details FFS!!! If I had not phoned them I would never have found out.......most of the staff on the phone are based in an outside UK location...english is not their first language its hard to understand what they are saying!

I've sold a couple to them and only had positive experiences

Sounds like you got unlucky but wouldn't personally say it makes them a bad outfit overall

It sounds like a dealer walking back a deal and it's less than ideal they sent over the wrong details.

I'll still let you know how I get on, it's on sale later. If I can get just below the reserve, I'll be taking it.

So, Motorway quoted £9,400 before the photos and then knocked me down on the declared minor damage - not too much thankfully.

It's been bought for the reserve price in the end, which I'm delighted about. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly and I'll be yet another person to recommend them.
