WC-what liquid?

Hello mate :)

Mayhem Pre-Mix X1 UV *** or Thermochill EC6 no good?

Long time, no chat. lol

I don't know a lot about Mayhem Pre-Mix X1 UV

as for the Thermochill EC6, a few people started to complain about gunking up issues on another forum (the people who make it) but the all disappeared ;)

If you work on the principle that all coloured water has a die & this stains everything.

This is what I had after only a few weeks & I could not get it out of my rad :(

I had pink water for weeks, even after washing everything through a few times.
I did not listen to the good advise & went with feser.
I now regret that choice & try to stop others from making the same mistake. :D

I can vouch for mayhems dye, pulled the system apart for a service, been running since april and there is no visible signs of staining or gunking up on blocks, you dont need a great deal of it either, only around 3-4 drops of the purple was needed for my loop.
Mayhem is a top bloke as well, when I initially placed my order there was a problem with the processing which meant I had to reorder and he also sent me a bottle of the clear uv blue for nothing.

Mayhems premix is distilled water, one of his dyes and his in house biocide which I'm assuming is similar to PT-Nuke but of his own composition so its known not to react badly with his dyes.

For those interest in his work and the dyes heres the link over at XS forums

Oh i see mate... not good :(:( Intresting about them complaints about the Thermochill EC6, I guess mayhems is the best bet then. I do see why people just go for the coloured tubing as all these horror stories are very bad! but it just doesnt look as good :p But that feser stuff is defo really bad!

Thanks for that link mate, Will have a read. As i'll be going into my first WC route very very soon, Do you think it's best to use his Pre-Mix X1 UV and as you have just said doesnt clog / stain seems very promising

It'll be cheaper and far easier to grab some of his premix, essentially biocide, dye and distilled water. However its likely to cost less, I would advise two bottles as my loop uses just over a litre and isnt overly large.

Did you tried flushing your radiator with vinegar?

jaffveyda

I used a few different things but used something a little stronger in the end.
46% caustic soda :D

ok, i will recommend distilled because distillation removes all the impurities from water while deionisation only removes ions. strictly speaking in theory, you could boil your entire loop and then fill it up with distilled water and you will never have to worry about algae since deionized is sterile and boiling your loop components will also make them sterile. (pure theory, hard to make practice unless you got a super clean room and i am not sure if you can boil a pump impeller)

with that said, for the purposes of water cooling, it doesn't matter. get yourself whichever you can find and you should be ok. just use additives or a silver coil to prevent algae growth and you are golden.
oh and don't forget anticorrosive agent is you have mixed metals in the loop.

I switched from Feser coloured fluid due to it breaking down sludging up my GTZ block and have been using EC6 clear and coloured uv hose with no issues for a year (6 month flush and fluid change) even after having a T3 res crack and leak fluid every where sure lived upto the non conductivity properties.

Yes. I use de-ionised water and Primochill Liquid utopia (does'nt cloud tubing) in my loop. I learnt my lesson with dyed liquid after Feser One broke down and clogged all my blocks.

Last time I saw a thread like this I thought Dolphin Tears came out as the best option?

Personally I would have prefered colour liquid but reading too many stories of blocks being coloured, i went with colour tubing, deionised water from halfrauds and some PT Nuke. The water from halfords is relatively cheap and my loop only takes about 900ml or so still got plenty after washing blocks/rad out and filling.
