In short, I have a Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB, I'm getting access times of 18-19ms whereas they should be around 12ms http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...te,2017-5.html

My 2+ year old hitachi gets 13ms, I know it is down to AAM and I know the Caviar Black is enabled on low noise I cannot change the setting to max performance or turn it off! How do I get around this??? I shouldn't be sold a performance drive that is set at 'green' settings

I also tried using WinAAM to try and change the AAM settings but it did not detect a drive??

Any ideas welcome, Thanks

I haven't but they don't support changing the AAM settings :( , I will try it though

I'm trying to use the Hitachi feature tool and hard disk sentinel DOS version there both ISO bootable things, so not the easiest of things

EDIT: The datalifeguard tool is rather pointless and no AAM settings

Wasn't sure what the DLTools actually allowed you to do sorry.

Are you having trouble using them (Hitachi / Sentinel) or having trouble making them bootable?

I swapped the ports and for some reason on boot it wanted to use a disc?? Had a look in BIOS everything was set booted as before

So anyway I just swapped the cables and left them in original ports no change

Well TBH I'm not going to mess about with this the rest of the night my average read speed is 20MB higher than the hitachi so it makes up for it and on the 'low noise' setting I can't even hear it a lot quieter than the old hitachi

Thanks for trying!
