WD Black question

Hi wonder if you guys can help me, I bought a Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB last week, went to install Windows 7 on it, and it took about 7 hours, which obviously isn't normal. After booting into windows it was extremely slow, hanging every few minutes. I formatted the Hard drive and reinstalled windows but I still encountered the same problem. To check it wasn't a corrupt windows 7 iso (downloaded from Msdn: AA and burn was verified) I installed my vista disk and the same problem occured. Its strange as the drive will hold and copy files fine. I also tried using different Sata and power cables.

I then installed windows 7 on an older hard drive and it run absolutely fine. So is it RMA time for the Black do you think? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

It does sound that way im sorry to say. Have you tried to check the disk for errors. ?

If it were me then id be ready to rma that right away , you should be getting pretty decent performance from that cavair black unit.

Sorry I forgot to mention that, yeah I used Wd's error checker and it simply froze the computer running the test, where as my other HD's passed the test fine. Ok then thanks that's cleared it up il do that.
