WD GREEN SOS!

Indeed I am wondering about going RAID 5 now:eek:
Raid 5 although handy for servers isn't a backup solution either, my Raid5 server has been reliable for probably 1.5yrs now (all WD Greens) but a bit of bad luck and my 6tb is mushy mush too.......i had one drive die on the server and that was a RE2-FYPS Enterprise drive so even those can go bang. Proper backup for big servers is a costly proposition.

oh dear - i was waiting for one of these to get back in stock - 2Tb version. Think i'll go for a sseagate!

They're good drives, one persons bad luck doesn't change that.

I have built server now around windows home server.

I can add drives and expand easy with protection if one drive fails. Even if the system drive fails.

Seems to be working well.

I think the two I had were from a bad batch.
