RIP lil' buddy 2010-2018

Should I replace it with another 500GB one, or has there been some advancement in the technology since I bought this one?

8 years is a pretty good high score!

8 years is not a bad lifetime, did you use it as a portable drive or just leave it plugged into something on the desk permanently?

I've got one that's been constantly plugged into my Xbox for a while now and never gets unplugged or moved and I've often wondered of the lifespan to expect

It was working fine until I moved it off the shelf - it may have lived awhile longer left stationary.
