WD RMA good?

My experience has been awful with them.

I've RMA'd 2 drives with them, both times it has taked them over 2 weeks just to book the faulty drives in, they only did it when I emailed and complained both times. They didn't even reply and apologise, they just happened to book them in the following day and took another week or so to dispatch a replacement drive.

In all it took about a month to get a new drive from the day I posted them.

I've never tried the advanced RMA though.

Samsung is top notch though, received a new drive 2 days after I sent it.

yeap cant faulter samsung, everythings so simple on the rexo website
can get your drive shipped and sorted in 2-3 days usualy.

hitachi arent that good took about 5 weeks too ship a replacement 1tb drive... which is unacceptable they stated on there website there out of stock all the time but I think if they cannot deliver a replacement drive within 6 weeks u can request a full refund so they delivered within week 5...

WD's advanced rma is very fast. You simply give them your credit card details and a few days later, they send you a replacement hard disk. You unpack the refurbished drive and place your old hard disk in the same packaging and send it back within 30 days. I've done this many times and had no problems.

The best RMA experience had to be Samsung's - about 6 months back, I RMA'd a drive. I posted it on the Monday. It arrived at Samsung's depot on Tuesday. They despatched a refurbished drive on Tuesday and it arrived on Wednesday. With speed like this, you simply don't need advanced RMA. Samsung's normal RMA service is faster than WD's Advanced RMA service.

Sounds like my experiences with Samsung a couple of years back, when I had a bunch of 120gb drives (bought from the same retail chain store) die within a few months.

2-3 working days after each drive was posted I had a new one back :)

I'm hoping Seagate will be fast, as I've just shipped one of my drives off to them :/

There are no problems with the WD RMA besides speed. Even with advanced RMA it can take many days and up to two weeks to get a drive, then they take weeks to confirm receipt of a drive and refund/remove hold on your card.

I had a slow Samsung RMA recently because they didn't have a replacement in stock; but since every other RMA has given me a brand new drive in 2-3 days after posting I can forgive that.

Western Digital are pretty good for RMA.

Contrary to the above, Samsung have delayed an RMA with me but I'll forgive them as it was over the Christmas/New Year period. It did take an email for them to take action on it though, with the new drive supposedly being posted today.
