"we are calling about a problem your reported...

Had a call like this from someone from epro solutions contacting me saying there was something wrong with my machine, they said something along the lines the a computer was sending windows error reports because there's a serious issue with a computer running windows and that they're working with microsoft/ your isp (which is false) to contact people to fix the issue on their behalf.

Looking online some people here have had simillar storys here: http://forums.computing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=199754

we've been getting a few calls with no one on the other end just dead line then an automated "goodbye" then a day or so later you get these types of sales call.

I think they just have a bunch of auto dilaers calling random numbers and any that get answered get added to a list and sold to these scam/advertising places.

I'd quite like one of these calls. I'd just do whatever they wanted inside a Virtual Machine and see what they got up to knowing my PC was safe :o.

plaster your number on every tinternet site you posibly can
pretty soon your phone will be off the hooks homie!

You can only string them along until the point where they direct you to a site selling '3rd party' software that is used to 'fix' your pc.

Most likely make your PC part of a Botnet. Nice idea having a honeytrap VM though, infact it would be quite interesting to see where they were connecting to your from by doing a simple traceroute....

They could also try and steal your browers cookies though, meaning that they could now log onto your webmail, online shop account, etc. which could potentially be for worse than having your PC be part of a Botnet...
