We are lucky about the price of the PS3.

Im getting sick and tired if this.....Please tell me what can Live do that Sony cant pull of or have potential to?
You said in your view it 'already has' beaten live.

I wont comment on the specific features of PS3 online as I have not tried them for myself. I can say that I have heard nothing but bad comments from people who have played it.

Not even counting that, the 360 online service is far superior to the PS3 online service at this moment in time, if only for the fact that there are far more games available for it and for the number of members.

One isnt just a games console though

One is a games console which forces the other things on you.

The other is a games console which gives you a choice of what you want it to do.

IMO that is the only differences between them, power wise they are very similar, games will be very similar, online will be different but both will have their pros and cons. Both are good for HD movies, of course that could go either way though.

.

No force involved - simply dont buy it :D

Personally I prefer having everything in one unit rather than being charged add-on prices (which are exceedingly high compared to true cost of the kit) and having multiple power points used up.

6 of one half a dozen of the other really

Never said it has "already has" beaten live but "it has matched it in my view"...Two different things.

You mean comments from those who spend 10mins on it then come to say it is crap? The xmb is the simplest interface ever - all well laid out. Any gamer who cant find their way round it shouldnt be playing computer games imo.

Yes it might be far superior in your view but (yes but) imo sony has matched it and can only get better with sheds loads of potential at hand.

To settle this arguement, tell me what ms live can do that you feel sony cant pull off? Let me help you. I dont know of any game for now that allows friends invite or over-the-net play with friends e.g GOW. Like i said before....It is a matter of time and software.

Ok, you think it matches xbl. My points still stand.

The comments i've heard slating it are not from people who spend 10 minutes on it. I've listened to many podcasts from people in the industry and to a man they all say the PS3 online service doesn't come close to xbl.

As I said I can't go into specifics without having tried it myself, but i've yet to hear a single plus point for the PS3 over xbl. You don't even get a unified gaming ID (gamertag) with the PS3 from what I hear.

You keep talking of the PS3s online potential but you forget that xbl has just as much potential, and much more experience.

How many games can you even play online with the PS3 at the moment? I bet it doesn't even come close to the number you can play over xbl.

To be fair, that stands to reason with it having a years head start ;)

This is getting tiresome. Iirc, you do get a unified gamer tag. (can someone clear this up please). Iirc, it even states this during registration.

EDIT
For debating and information purposes. You list what xbox live can do and i will do the same for the ps3 once i get home. Im sure lies and decit will be quickly fished out by readers. :) I can predict the result now...360 leading a little margin but ps3 not far behind with more potentials. :)

What is the 'more potentials' though?

What, in your mind, can the PS3 do, or have the possibility of doing that the 360 cant do now, or potentially do?

Surely potentially they could both do exactly the same things?

How many software updates has the Ps3 have since launch, i think oversion 1.5 now or so. This are things along the lines on improvement and runs parallel with "more potentials".

I havent stated categorically that ps3 can beat the Live right now but more like people willy waving the potentials of the 360 hence my comments.

EDIT
I belive all in all the both have potentials and bucket loads of improvement are to come perhaps if people can recognise that we will get along just fine and quit arguing who tops who?

Well in my mind that reply is sidestepping the answer somewhat, but I will leave it there if it will contribute to less bickering on here :)

You're getting boring.

Look back at some of the comments you made in this thread.

Sorry, I am talking about the online aspect...

And in any case, although running Linux on the PS3 might be relatively easy, I wouldn't bet against someone doing something similar with the 360, even if it involves unofficial hacking. It has the correct sort of components and architecture, so I don't see why it would be unfeasible?

That wont count lol. ;)

Lol, is that a new rule you've made up? :p

We are talking about 'potential' here, nowhere did it say it has to be realised by official means ;)

Maybe MS will release ANOTHER version of Vista, specifically for the 360. However, I think it would probably break it with its hardware requirements :D
