Well I haven't been on a huge amount of dates, was with someone for 7 years, then went on a date with a lass(that went uber well, so I doubt I'm doing anything wrong!) which I was with on and off for about 8 months or so, she turned out to be abit of a crazy! Other girls since then I've met out or through mates.
I know it'll still be a date, so I just wanted less datish things . I find them cheesy and awkward probably because I haven't done it much and it feels like you're forced to get to know each other and chat about yourself/her. Where as if it's while you're doing something fun it's a lot more interesting and you can get to know the personality of the lass a lot more... it goes both ways .
I've suggested (because she's skint) that I cook her a meal and we rent a few dvd's out, so we're using that as a backup plan if sledging is a no-go. Just gotta make sure my flatmate hasn't invited folk round. She said she's a fussy eater though, and doesn't like eating infront of people she doesn't know!!! This is hard work arrgh.
At the end of the day, you wanna see if your gonna like this girl. If you cant cope with sitting down for a meal, or going for a walk, i doubt its gonna go too far.
Go Ape is a bit tame if your use to climbing and the like but it's good fun anyway, we went a few weeks ago with work and it's a really good giggle if not actually that thrilling. Can you sail a boat at all? getting a topper out or something is always fun, or maybe wind surfing? Any Ice skating rinks close by that have opened for xmas?
Personally I know the first date drink/meal thing can be a bit forced but it really is a good way to get to know one another and talk, which is really what a first date is all about.
Coincidently I'm going on my first date with a lass this Saturday, meeting up for cocktails at 3 in the afternoon. Shes 22 and I'm 26 as well so I do kinda understand the date nerves/feeling a bit false about it all. We have been chatting on msn for a few weeks now and I'm really looking forward to it!
Because she's skint you're staying in? How about offering to pay! Then you might get more than you bargained for because after all every woman is essentially a prostitute once you get down to the bare bones of the situation .
