Wealth

Yeah, it's a safety net, I wouldn't need to worry about finances, bar bills, car bills etc.
I'd still go to uni and get my degree, only I wouldn't have to work down there.

I wouldn't tell anyone about it. But I'd give plenty of cash to charitys anonymously and such.

Maybe in the respect that my family would be safe (financially) and I could leave some money to worthwhile charities, but apart from that - probably not.

It would give you the ability to make your life just whatever the hell you wanted it to be. Whether that's sitting on your own island sipping cocktails with 300 strippers to getting 4 high-class degrees and working in your dream sector. Money can very much buy happiness, and yes, if I had an unlimited supply I would die a very, very happy man.

Lol, ofcourse you would :o

how anyone could say otherwise is beyond me.You would be able to do anything currently possible in the world.

You couldn't do something that needs time and practice to achieve. You couldn't instantly play the piano or write a symphony. Or play for a premiership football club.

Eventually you'd run out of things to buy and realise that it's all just "stuff" and "things" and you haven't actually achieved anything.

Ultimately, everything that drives happiness is NOT related to money - once you have *enough* money, it no longer influences happiness.

And, yes, this really does happen - it happens over and over again if you read enough Chat/Hello type magazines and all their "lottery didn't buy me happiness" stories...

But you would have plenty of time to practice and acheive whatever you wanted.

You could become pretty good at Golf for example if you got some pro training and played it 5 times a week for 5 years..

It's not quite as simple as that though. It depends entirely on your circumstances. If you are having financial problems, then coming into to a large sum of money could potentially make you happier. However, if for example you are having mental health issues, depending on the sorts of problems you are having, no amount of money is necessary going to help you.

Completely agree.

It will still help you to a certain degree. If you have mental health issues then a limitless supply of money is going to get you the very best help and still make things more comfortable. I fail to see how it would have a negative effect.

...unless you want to go into chaos theory and what if's but that is for another thread..

People say you can't buy happiness. I call these people poor people.

Yes, you can buy happiness, it just won't last very long.

You don't need huge amounts of money to do that, just huge amounts of motivation. You can't buy motivation.

If you didnt have plenty of cash and you spent 5 days a week 9-5 on the Golf course you might find yourself short of cash after you get sacked for not turning up to work.

I didn't say it was going to have a negative effect, I said that money may or may not help you, depending on the sorts of problems you are having. Lets say for example you are depressed, which could be for a variety of reasons, whilst you may be supported by people whom are the best at their job and they might help you move a couple of extra steps up the ladder, it will be down to you to truly change things. With that in mind, maybe I need to rephrase what I said slightly. Money may help and make it easier for you to reach happiness, but it won't ultimately bring happiness to you, depending on your circumstances.
