hi

i have both internet explorer and firefox web browsers on my pc but im unsure which one is the most secure.

i prefer firefox because it seems more stable but is it more secure?

cheers

install the adblock plus addon, then choose 'easylist subscription'

(for firefox)

you'll get NO ads on pages then, browsing is much faster

to make them both safer, install...

spywareblaster
spybot s&d (untick the 'resident scanner' options)

update both and immunize/protect (stops bad cookies)

just do adblock at least, you'll thank me

now i refuse to use the internet unless i'm using firefox & adblock plus, makes you realise how dirty every site is

and nod32/comodo won't stop tracking cookies

one more thing when i install the firefox add block addon it comes up with subscibe to filter lists do i need to do this?

thanks for your help guys:)

edit* i choose the USA easylist subscription is that ok

hi

where do i go to turn off the resident scanner , and why do i need to do this?

cheers

As a general rule you'll want as few apps running in the background as possible. By switching off "resident scanner" you'll get rid of the CPU hogging realtime scanner (ie it won't scan EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN FILE YOU OPEN ON YOUR PC), and just get whatever other benefits the software confers...

Also, if you use FF or Opera you will be much safer than IE (although newer versions have improved some) and can probably do without overdoing the paranoia thing. I have used the Opera/Admuncher combo for about 6 years and have yet to see a rogue popup or attempted malware installation.

well after installing spybot and running it , it found a few things to remove but there is so many things that say do you want to delete this and that , that ive got confused with it , so ive uninstalled it:confused:

ive had only firewall and antivirus for ages now and that seems ok i hope.

cheers
